Man, that saxophone is so friggin' badass, but I really kind of hate the rest of the song. My buddy Wes and I were discussing it yesterday, and we really wish someone would just steal the sax part and then make the rest of the song equally badass. I just don't know if that's possible - I mean, listen to that saxophone. That's baby-makin' music if I've ever heard it. Then BAM! - that douchebag Gerry Rafferty starts singing and everything gets all quiet and lame.
I think all this rain is starting to get to me, I'm gonna go outside and have a cigarette.

Holy shit I LOVE that sax solo and that little keyboard noise snuck in with it! That guitar solo at the end kicks ass too. Sorry, but I really love that song all the way through. But I also love Journey and Styx more than any normal person should.
That is some seriously cheesy baby making music. If I was hanging out with a guy and we were making out and he turned that on I would seriously laugh. Then back to makin out...heh

I always reference this song and no one ever knows what I'm talking about!!
I've decided it's the song that places when a middle aged guy is going through a break up and driving around at night in a convertible on a cliff somewhere near the ocean. I can hear the sax going off as soon as he makes one of those big "risky" turns. hah.

Awesome, I approve. I had an I heart Journey sticker on my car for a long time, but that was my last two cars. I NEED one for this one. I'll probably even get a Journey tattoo eventually. Really.

OH FUCK.
THANK YOU.
I randomly get that sax part stuck in my head all the time, and I could never figure out who did this song, or what movie it was from or any of that shit.
Also, Journey kicks ass. Who could even question that?

I just read a bit about this song on wikipedia. and I am utterly shocked that it was never used in some old cop movie, I keep imagining it in some maudlin melodramatic action movie that's like a cross between Dirt Harry and Lethal Weapon, but with less jokes and more sadness.

The best usage is in the Simpsons episode Lisa's Sax, I'm gonna go try and find that on the Internet and watch it, just to satisfy myself completely with this song.
