Are these only for local bands?

Last year one of my friends hooked me up with a guest pass. He did end up living in Gainesville, but had only moved there like 4 days before the Fest so I didn't think he was considered "local."
But this year a friend's band is driving down from Boston to play and I was going to go and hopefully get a guest pass from them, but they said they looked into it and couldn't do it because they weren't local.

i'm just curious what the deal is, because if i have to buy a ticket i want to make sure i do that.

I don't think bands really get a guest pass it's more of a band + roadie or merch guy or whatever so the "guest" pass from last year might have just been labeled under merch person or something like that.
I've never heard of bands getting extra free passes just because they are local but then again I don't work for The Fest people, I just post here like it's my job

are you that cheap that you can't just buy a pass? have you seen the line-up? buy a pass.

not cheap. just broke. so, you know going for free would be a lot better than spending money i shouldn't. but i obviously will if i have to.

band's get two passes for road crew.

Bands do get passes for road crew. But they are for people who are actually helping that band with their shit. They are not for people just to get a free pass.

Some bands also get a few guest list spots. That will get you entry to just that one show.

Just buy a pass dude. Don't come on this board publicly announcing your plans to try and scam us.
