Hey all, some friends and I are driving in from Tallahassee on the 24th for this one, just wondering if it is recommended that we get tickets ahead of time. I have only been to Common Grounds during Fests, never for regular shows so i don't know if the place filling up is always that likely...Any advice would be appreciated. I don't want to miss Gaslight like I have soooo many other bands standing in line out there.

CG has a pretty easy online ticketing system, and the fee is pretty low too, I thnk it's only like $2.

It's hard to tell what will sell out and what won't in Gainesville, but I'd get the tickets in advance just in case, or just show up really early.

def get them in advance. last thing you want is to drive down here and have it be sold out.

if that actually does happen though, call me and i'll come outside, laugh at you, punch you in the dick, and go back inside to enjoy the show.

I would get them early just in case but I really can't see this show selling out at all.

a couple months ago I saw Gaslight Anthem open up for The Loved Ones with New Mexican Disaster Squad and Grabass Charlestons. The Atlantic didn't really fill up that much for it.
now they are headlining over American Steel at common grounds, I really don't get it

Yeah dude, I really don't know what has happened to Gaslight to make them this massive band in the space of like a month or two.
Seriously, they've proper exploded over here recently.
It's amazing what the cover of Keerrang can get you.

Oh, I'll still come for American Steel and O'Pioneers.
Two of my favorite bands for sure.
I just don't get Gaslight.
There's a few bands that you kids dig that I don't get.
Andrew W.K. is a great example...
i don't get it...or maybe I just can't stand listening long enough to get it.

But then again, I like Archers Of Loaf, Helmet, Bad Religion, The Clash, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams and a lot of other things you might not get (yet).

I love Gaslight and who you calling kid, kid?

The kids love all kinds of music that I can't get into. Fucking Robert Randolph and his fucking family band. UGH.

(I'm extra irritated because they are grinding a HUGE oak stump outside my office and its fucking LOUD)

ain't nothing wrong with those bands.

i like gaslight anthem recorded, i saw them live a few years ago when they had just changed their name from "this charming man" and they weren't too great live. i'll definitely be going to that show to see American Steel, i'll stick around and see if Gaslight's live show improved...

I know 17 year olds that listen to some of those bands you listed. I listened to some of them in my teens as well, others not until my 20s.

Everyone musically matures at a different rate. You can't really sign off that certain age groups only like certain musicians. There are a lot of variables for each of us.

Sadly, some people just haven't met the right people yet to hear about certain genres. Or are secluded from anything but what they hear on the radio. Some families aren't music oriented at all either. And that is a HUGE factor.

I consider myself very fortunate that my family has always been into music and has a taste for new and obscure talents in many genres.

Your old age is just getting to you where you can't party party party with Andrew W.K.
but now I expect to see you up here for that show, and The Riot Before/Dirty Money one in october

pretty sure I sent this to you but you should watch it again since it has your two favorite things, Andrew W.K. and a Gaslight Anthem clip - http://vimeo.com/1691162

What's not to get about Bad Religion or The Clash?

Also, I don't see what the big deal is about "not getting" a band that's insanely popular. You don't like them, big deal. I "don't get" what's so great about Against Me! and never did, and I never made a big deal about it.

Maybe that's just me and I've become a lot more tolerant when it comes to what I don't like. If I don't like a certain band I let that be the end of it and I let other people like them.

Ditto to what Gatoranch said about musically maturing at different rates. You'd be surprised how many teenagers listen to classic rock (at least they did when I was in high school).

Teenagers who listen to a LOT of classic rock are called "dirt rockers" and they come in two flavors- the ones who wish they could have been hippies, and the ones who are like happy goth and also like shitty metal (korn, newer metallica).

not to be confused with dirt punks (aka crusties).

also- the last two bands I listened to are in Mackenzies' list.
