We stayed there for a bit pre-fest last year. I like walking so was happy walking into town and back but reception will call you a cab if necessary. They got us one pretty easily when we wanted to get to the mall though. The only time you may find it tough is getting back late at night if it decides to rain as it seems half of the UK are staying at the Comfort Inn which is just up the street and I'm not sure Gainesville have enough cabs to go round!
Ah that's handy. I don't mind calling cabs and all, i just remember against nick standing outside the holiday inn on the sunday last year waiting for about two hours for a cab he'd called. Don't fancy that myself.
This is probably in another thread but fuckitt - is they definitely getting more rooms in the holiday inn or it is a possibility? The daft bastard of a brother booked the room in the exec place through the hotel, not Fest, so we (probably) can't get a full refund... Argh, letting non-festers organise things like this, what an idiot am i!!

Is that someone connected through Fest? The hotel is booked through the hotel, not through Fest. I checked the website again and it say we can get a refund up to three days before the booking. Just gotta wait for more hotel rooms to come up now and we could be good! Pool party here i come.

Here’s the skinny on the Paramount Plaza
Just like last year, this is the chill-out get-away hotel for those of you that don’t want to party round-the-clock while you’re here visiting in town. The Paramount is by far the nicest hotel in Gainesville in terms of location and scenery, they have a killer outdoor pool that looks out over Biven’s Arm lake, so you can camp out here with your special someone and enjoy a nice Bahama Mama while relaxing next to the lake and chilling out with some gators. This is a quieter hotel, not to say that it isn’t awesome but it’s definitely not the wild and crazy Holiday Inn. They have a sweet restaurant in-house and will also be running some Fest drink and food specials all weekend long

That's a really good idea Jeremy. I think some of my friends and I are renting a car but if we had no other options I'd take you up on this.

Uh, thought that this was the quiet, non-party hotel?
