So I was thinking about growing the beard until Fest Time, but it's getting to be a bit much. I also start a new job tomorrow, maybe I should trim it down to a respectable length before the ID photo gets taken, and I meet my managers and co-workers.
Actually, I don't care that much what my job thinks, but it would be nice to make a good first impression. I also am trying to not concern myself with something as trivial as growing a beard to impress a bunch of other beardpunks, but it is always hard to part with a beard. Having a certain date set makes the shaving easier to accept, but I don't want to be beholden to that goal.
Here is me today, 2.5 months of growth. So I can get back to roughly this level in time for Fest.

If they hired you with that beard they can't really give you shit about it. But maybe just clean it up a little if you are really worried.

i've been trimming, but only because i can't stand having a mustache that gets into my mouth while eating. I'm trying to keep the length off the chin, but trimming the sideburns. I will definitely not be having the burliest Fest beard come halloween.

just shave your neckbeard and trim it up a little, but don't lose length.
cause I said so.

there really is nothing more annoying than trying to eat something and getting it all in your mustache, and having your mustache all in your mouth all the time. plus, for me, mustache trimming is a lot harder than beard trimming. I'm going amish style

There are days that I wake up, look in the mirror and utterly despise my beard, and my hand twitches, going for the clippers. But I restrain myself, because I still get a kick out of looking like some kind of hobo. And my ladyfriend enjoys it, so that more or less seals the deal.

There are people in New England who don't have any beards. What about them? You beard waster.

sigh... I trimmed it down to roughly a two week growth level. The mustache was a big factor. I could have just trimmed that, and left everything else, but I wanted to look presentable at new job. They actually had not seen me in a few weeks, since my last intereview. Now I get to see how long I can let it grow before they tell me to clean it up.
I miss it, but I more comfortable for the most part. Don't get me wrong though, there are definitely comforting aspects to big ole beard.
Biggest problem now though is a post-trim beardruff flare up.

So you never told us, which job did you get? You know, of the 3 options.

customer service.
in training for the first 3 weeks, so I can't tell if I hate it or not yet. So far, the first half of each day kinda sucks, then we switch over to our entertaining trainer.

I was a bank teller for years - I would always quote Randall from Clerks. "This job would be great if it wasn't for the fucking customers."
