my sister is driving up from orlando and meeting me in gville and we were discussing the exec as opposed to the holiday inn, if only for the fact that my sister isn't as into the partying as i am and eventually plans on sleeping.
nothing's 100% yet, though. as long as i don't wind up sleeping in a pile of leaves behind 1982 i'm fine with staying wherever.

I just booked a room at this one, but only because the the Holiday Inn rooms are all booked. Although should any rooms at the Holiday Inn become available before Oct. 1st and I get a chance to book a room, I'm cancelling this room in a heartbeat.

wouldn't rely on taxi's as I've never really seen one. There is a bus or two that goes by that area though. or walk up to rush lake and find people driving over to downtown from their

it's under 3 miles from the Executive Fest Hotel to all the venues, I'd reccomend renting bicycles for the weekend.

Next question - can you get arrested for drink driving on a bike?
Seriously though, does gainesville have reliable taxis? Three years i've never even seen one.

in most of the US, except for the huge cities like NYC, you have to call the taxi ahead of time, and they meet you somewhere. So yeah, they've got taxis, but you won't be able to just stumble out of a club and flag one down.

YES, very! Be careful, the GPD are known for ticketing/arresting people on bikes all the time for no light, riding intoxicated, and even speeding!

This is sadly true.

You'd be surprised, I flagged a cab on the longass walk from the Holiday Inn last year to the PIB/Shooks show at Ryan Money's house.
Granted, the cab driver hit on me the whole time but I still did it.
In my case, unless the band I'm staying with wants to drive my ass downtown all weekend, I'm planning on renting a bike.

I'll know the exact time whenever the schedule comes out but I think my friend is staying here and I have to drive my car to the venues every day to bring equipment and shit so I'll start a morning caravan of some sort.

We stayed there for a bit pre-fest last year. I like walking so was happy walking into town and back but reception will call you a cab if necessary. They got us one pretty easily when we wanted to get to the mall though. The only time you may find it tough is getting back late at night if it decides to rain as it seems half of the UK are staying at the Comfort Inn which is just up the street and I'm not sure Gainesville have enough cabs to go round!
