Alright, so now that I've got a place to crash that won't cost an arm and a leg, I want to try and figure out how to get down to G-ville on the cheap. I think it might be best, economically speaking, to rent a big fifteen-passenger van and stuff it to the gills . . . but even that might be a bit too expensive.
Basically, I just want to brainstorm with any fellow Midwesterners here.

Central IL crew is working on borrowing a 15 passenger van- if you can get down here, you're invited to join the road trip craziness...

I did a little research on my own adn found thats its gonna cost me about $350 to drive my '99 Dodge Stratus down and back. not quite as bad as i was expecting, and luckily thats how much money i have to my name.
I just thought this might help any one else who is wondering about gas costs.
my car get 20 city/28 highway and hold 16 gallons.
If i drive just right, i should only have to fill up 4 time each way!

This might not be a bad idea, depending on what the van's mileage is . . . we can totally get down there at the drop of a hat (well I think an hour and a half was our best time but still)
We've been talking about getting a fifteen passenger van, but can't seem to find one that'll rent to anyone under twenty-five. If we could get in on your van-action, we'd totally toss in for the rental and the gas money.

Yeah, I was at 127th and Western for a while, now I'm currently in the guest room at my parents' house, looking to move into the city proper.
That aside - Kristin, where were you gonna get this van from, anyway?

We are working on borrowing our friends' touring van BUT just found out that it needs new shocks/brakes/tires from their last tour. We're gonna all pitch in to get it fixed tho. Puts a damper on the plans of adding people for sure though, haha.
If it comes to it, I bet my dad or one of my bosses would rent one in their name and have me be in charge of it- can we get away with that?
We still need a place to camp when we get there

Should check out the Thunder Siege thread on the While In Gainesville forum. A bunch of people are camping on a lawn.
