Danny TCOL's driving, Eva, have you tried him? Could be very full up by now, right enough. If you decide not to head through, party it up with us in Gainesville.

I'm having to rent a 15 seaters anyway to fit OK Pilot in from Tampa back to G-ville, if you want in it'll be around a tenner or less each in rental/fuel.. let me know!

My plans have changed big time due to flight prices and I don't know what I'm doing at all now but if I were to fly into Tampa on the Wednesday and find my way to the skate park then are you still cool to take me back to G'ville? I actually wanted to get into Gainesville on the Monday but can't find a way to do it cheap enough.
Do you have a plan sorted as far as heading south from NYC yet?

Yeah, that's cool. I think the way it's going to work out for splitting costs.. even with everyone chipping in for the both ways, but only travelling one way.. is still going to be wayyyyyyyy less than a tenner each - which for a late night shuttle back to Gainesville isn't such a bad deal, I think. OK Pilot are flying into Tampa and coming back to Gainesville with us on the Wednesday night, so you wouldn't be alone in your half-ride hitchin'..

Oh, and no plans whatsoever for NYC/NJ to Fest and back yet, it's the only glaring omission from my confirmed plans so far.
Tempted to look into van hire in NYC/NJ and see if maybe it'll work out significantly cheaper in rental/gas individually (and ferrying Festers from NYC to Gainesville) than flying. I suspect it might do, but I need to find some hella cheap 15 seater van hires first.

That sounds great although I may now fly into Orlando the night before, get a shuttle to Gville and meet you there as I will either have to get back to Tampa or Orlando after Fest anyway and I can get a return shuttle from Orlando but not Tampa it seems. A bit long winded but it may make getting home easier. Either way I'm happy to chip in a share for both ways even if I meet you in Tampa as that still seems fair.

Keep me posted on that front too then as currently it's internal flight prices that have thrown such a spanner in the works this year!

I'm on it.
I guess with internal flights not being so cheap, it gives me a little leeway to try and hook this up.

if your renting a van to drive down and stopping on shows on the way I would be really tempted to fly up the NYC to meet up for the start of that excursion.

eva/anyone else interested, me and blonde ian are planning on hiring a car and driving from Tampa to gville on the Friday morning/afternoon, or possi my thursday, depending on what the gigs are. At the moment I think there's just the two of us, so if other people want spaces then there's probably 3 going spare.

How long you reckon it would take to drive down the coast from NY to Gainesville? Cause I had not budgeted for internal flights costing nearly as much as my transatlantic ones!

NYC to Gainesville is what.. 1000 miles-ish? Fuckin' nothiiiiiiiiiin'.
The idea of roadtripping down with a few stops sounds fun, but it really depends on what we're looking at for van rental. I know the NOFX/D4 tour rolls down the East Coast pre-Fest I think, but I don't really know much of what is going on. I was basing my getting quotes on rental running from the 27th to 5th.
It just seemed like a decent alternative (a nice lazy drive over a 24 hour period, stopping for coffee, food, and naps, and coffee and food, and food, and food..) to paying $300 each, when so far all I've found is that the Measure paid around $1500 for 3 weeks unlimited mileage. If I can find ten people who want to come down in a van rather than fly, then y'know, even with gas we're looking at less than $200 each. And that's kind-of top side estimate for 3 weeks. I'm looking at 9 or 10 days tops.
More news as this story develops.
