If anyone is looking for a quiet place to pass out post-festing, then this is on the cheap and pretty decently situated walking distance to venues.
Its downtown nearer to Common Grounds/The Kickstand.
Please be respectful of their space, if you choose this option. Its definitely not for everyone.

From the FAQ:
"To accomplish this, we ask that each guest perform a daily chore of about 10 minutes. Some hostels call these duties, but here we call them beauties."
hahahahahaha holy lol. yo, i'm all about helping out, but don't sugarcoat this shit.
sounds pretty sweet...i'm shocked this hasn't been mentioned before. not cool if this place gets thrashed like the holiday inn or rush lake though.

I'd be down for staying here sometime if I'm ever in Gainesville for something non-Fest related.

Zen Hostel takes reservations by phone only. Phone (352) 336-3613
Dorm: $20/night. Private room: $35/night.
We don't have a large staff or a complex online reservation system in the interest of simplicity and minimizing expenses. For that reason we don't accept credit cards. But we are glad to answer any question
phone or email. Our email address is: wonderwhy@cox.net.
Please pass our information on to any interesting travelers passing this way.
We will welcome them.
Address: 404 SE 2nd Street, Gainesville Florida 32601

I'll take Thundrseige any day. Working during the Fest for any amount of time is just a bummer. I learned my lesson. But, if I was just visiting I'd hit this jam up for sure.

I met a woman at a wedding in Gainesville who was staying there. She came in from D.C. and she knew about it, though none us of Gainesville people did. Somehow that made us feel silly.
So yeah, I'm spreading the word now.

Totally blows my mind too. I always thought that place had something to do w/the Krishnas or something. It is as if they are in their own little world that doesn't associate or socialize w/the rest of Gville.

I got news for you guys, the hippies were in Gville LONG before the punks. It is truly an old school hippie town, from its roots.
And LOOONG before even the Gainesville Fest (years pre-this Fest) they had Hemp Fests in Gville every year.
I have photographic proof of doobie tosses and GPD confrontations.
Welcome to Gville festers.
