how quickly will I be able to get from 1982 to The Side Bar on Sunday night?

i am good friends with O! Pioneers, who supposedly finish at 10:00, but I'll be damned if four years of listening to Tiltwheel is going to be for naught (they start at 10:10).

You can make it! Start practicing your speed walking.

On foot, it's a good 10-15 minutes. You can make it, but be safe! I've had some problems walking downtown before so grab a buddy

ha, you know, I must be the only kid in town without a bike

Cheers

8 blocks in 10 minutes is do-able if you really want to make it.
but that means every show staying on schedule.....well, don't hold your breath, but stranger things have happened.

So do you reckon it's pretty dodgy walking from venue to venue then? We're coming from the UK and have no idea what Gainesville is like and I know we will be heading to the Tiltwheel show for sure but I hadn't planned on getting into any rucks on the way!!

Haha, don't worry, Gainesville is more than safe. All the other venues you can comfortably get to in a minute or so. It's just that 1982 is the farthest removed by 10 minutes, but don't let that discourage you. It's my favorite place in town

But now that I'm giving it a bit more thought, 10 pm is usually a safe hour on University Ave. And I'll bet that there will probably be other Festers running about too. I wouldn't worry too much, just grab a friend. I'll probably be making the same walk myself.... somehow I've managed to miss Tiltwheel every single year and I'm hoping that'll change
Cheers

Not dodgy at all. Gainesville is safe.
This is from the FAQ on the site:

"We will also have rickshaws out that will be running free of charge but asking for tips. These are all walking blocks. Gainesville has a very small downtown. "

To figure out where they are, try local.google.com and the schedule has the addresses.

See you all in two weeks-mknz

last year they had little Fest books that had coupons and ads and lists of what bands were playing and where. they also had a map of where all the venues are and where they are in relation to eachother. hopefully they do that again this year. the rickshaws sound like a great idea. i know there wasn't really a problem getting to and from each venue. the one problem last year was that it was a very long wait to see certain bands like Radon and Ted Leo. same with Dillinger Four. if you wanna see Radon, Dillinger Four or anyone like that, get there early. unless they've improved on this. other than that, there's no problem seeing a ton of bands.

BRING A SKATEBOARD / BUY A USED BIKE. Then you will make tracks. You will also need to budget a few minutes standing in line to get in, just to be safe.

I wandered the streets a few times last year at 4am coming home from parties and looking for beer and such, and it was no problem :D
