I realise there have been a few threads on the subject of where to stay over The Fest, but most of them are at chain Hotels like Comfort Inn etc. Well most of them are actually people's floors/sofas/gardens... but let's stay on topic!
Are there any independent places? The infamous Rush Lake sounds independent and I was just wondering if there were any more.

If you've got the money to stay in a hotel stay in the holiday inn Fest hotel...if you don't have money...bring a tent and camp in our yard...we live downtown now like RIGHT near all the happenings. Haha.
I know someone who worked at Rush Lake and she told me about how someone bent over and shit all over the curtains once...like explosive diarrhea.

Your source also pissed in a coffee pot in the lobby and made coffee for the guests out of it. Not to worry though, she lives in the far off land of Chicago now.
I've stayed there a few times, and I don't have any bugs or anything. As long as you don't bring a blacklight, you'll be too drunk to care about anything that may have happened before you arrived.

Gross! Never heard about that one. I didn't know she moved either...thank god. She was working at 1982 w/me for a short amount of time.
But either way, it just goes to show you thats the kind of people they hire. I just don't see why you would stay there when you can stay right next to the Fest in a hotel that ONLY Fest people will be in for a few more bucks (or either a couple more people and little less comfort). It just seems like a no brainer to me. Or is this about being PUNX? Because like I said...I have a yard, I would offer my floor...but I have too many personal friends alone coming in and I already have a smalllllllll living room and also hardwood floors...to be honest...the yard and a tent would probably be more comfortable...lots of leaves fall out there.

You're gonna end up with a shanty town erected in your front lawn.

Hopefully I'll be staying in the Holiday Inn during The Fest but I'm going to be in town for a few days before so I was just looking for a little motel to stay in then. Thanks for the offer of the tent city option though... people on this board are so damn nice.

Just for the info of any peeps looking for an idea of accomodation rates etc...
I've got 6 nights at the 'Americas Best Value Inn' which is at 1900 sw 13th st for 190 GBP which sounds to me like a freakin steal.
I'd heard that is was pretty cool and mellow with minimal fuss for any (potential) breakages etc so it sounds like a safe bet for Fest hijinks.
It's obviously not as close to the Fest hub as Holiday Inn but sort yourself out with some bike rental and you're sorted.
I know it's not the Holiday Inn but fuck it, at that price!!
