Is there a good place in Gainesville that rents out bikes? I'd bring mine, but it's pretty big and I drive a Hyundai Accent. Strapping it to the roof is a last resort.
I know I've seen some bike shops around town the past couple years, I just never bothered finding out if they had rentals.

Recycled bicycles on west university. It's real close to the heart of the action, so you'll be all set.

The Kickstand will be renting bikes during the Fest. It is also going to be one of the venues this year. It is just South of downtown on Main St.

Sorry if I was sounding like a know it all, I was really trying to be helpful. And I really wish I could find that thread. It was quite useful.
But yeah, there are a LOT of bike places in the Fest area but I'm personally not certain who rents bikes. So that's why I added that search link.

did anyone who stayed at the holiday inn last year rent a bike?
i was just wondering if it could be chained up in the parking garage, if they could just be brought up on the elevator and stored in the room, or chained somewhere around the premises.

Good point. It would be awesome if we could keep them in the room. Much less to worry about!

I just emailed a couple friends who work for The Kickstand to see what they're thinking about rate-wise.
I know they are a fairly new place and still going through their parts and etc to try to make some more bikes useable.
I'll get the scoop and report back.
