I do hold a mall job at a jewelry store, but the hours aren't stable soo I've started looking for a second job. During my high~school days, I worked at a flea market from age 16 to 18. Left because hours were only available on the weekends. Sold food, sold kitchen appliances, sold art. I also dabble with eBay Anyways, where do you work?
I work as a Graphic Designer for PlayStation in the UK. I had to contact HR to get the time off for Fest as I'd used up my allocated year's holiday allowance.
Working for the man... alright, high five, wooo!

If you ever wanted to help me out.
Now would be the time.
Got a scary email from my boss today explaining that someone over in timekeeping managed to screw me out of 2 months pay. And so my job may end August 31st.
Those of you that know me, know I rarely if ever ask for anything. And I’m a very selfless person.
But now, I need your help for my livelihood. So you know if I’m asking, I’m in a tough spot.
Gville bands, please hire me to photograph your band. Live or portrait. We’ll work out payment on a sliding scale.
And if you have any ideas for employment for me that I can do online, please let me know.
I’m not going to drive to Gville for work. I’d go through my savings on the gas alone in no time and that is just counter productive.
Thanks so much friends…jana
that sucks so hard, all the best getting some work sorted, x

kinda reminds me of when I used to play computer games for money
first couple tournaments I went to if I introduced myself as Jeremy I would get this weird look and then once I said whatever team I was on at the time/gaming name they would go "oh yeah I know you"
god i miss that "job"

You certainly wouldn't be the first one. And I respond to it. As well as:
Gato, Ms. Gato, Lazy J, and Lazy Js Gato Ranch.

I'm sure all innerweb nerds have had this happen....The crossover from internets to 3D, when you're not expecting it.
One time at the Shamrock. many moons ago, a regular poster of another local music board overheard my real name and said very excitedly "are you __________ from thatboard."
For a moment I didn't know who he was and if I should affirm my identity or not.
Us superheros like to lurk in the shadows.
(but I did and it was cool)

I realized a 'job' I used to have is pretty uncommon
I used to play video games professional. for a couple years I made a living based off tournament winnings, sponsorship, and at a point was even given a salary for it.
I'm really good at doing tedious things for an extended amount of time so I really had no problem sitting in front of my computer and playing the same game 8-10 hours a day, 7 days a week. it gets a little ridiculous with bootcamps because groups of us would get together a week or so before tournaments and play about 16 hours each day leading up to it.
I got out of it 2-3 years ago essential turning down a contract that would have required me to drop out of college. The community turned to shit with all the money from new sponsors coming in and changing things and I got tired of having to play new games that I hated just to keep up with it all.
There is actually a pretty good documentary coming out soon about pro-gaming that's finally going to show a lot more of the back story of the stuff that goes on behind the scenes of it all (even pro-gaming has drug problems, anywhere from just ritalin to crystal meth before matches) The Trailer for it is here - http://gear.gotgame.com/frag-movie/
oddly enough I just found out my old practice partner is coming down to The Fest this year

I work at an ice cream store that's full-service--meaning everything is homemade on the premises. I'm in charge of basically all the production. Been doing it for almost five years and I still enjoy it.
It pays great for being a foodservice job, and I've gotten so efficient that I usually only do 2-3 hours of actual work on a given day, giving me time to write and do other stuff. The schedule rules (daytime shifts and most weekends off) and I get a week of paid vacation every year, which I'd guess is a week more than a lot of non-manager foodservice employees get. And I can pretty much get days off whenever I want, provided I ask far enough in advance.

I am a barn manager at an equestrian facility where I've worked for almost four years. So, I get paid (albeit not much) to play with horses all day. I also work at a vegan pizza shop, which is collectively run and unionized so that's pretty rad.
