yo, i like eating, so let's all list off the best place we ate last year in the general Fest vicinity, and if you'd be so kind, make a general recco for all dem outta town festers.

in the Fest area: i'm a sucker for flaco's

rest of gainesville: adam's rib co (bbq)

how about the obvious :

Five Star, baby. Right downtown. If you can find Common Grounds, you can find Five Star Pizza. I recco the pizza (well, and the garlic roll, pepperoni things).

Another chain I'm a sucker for -- especially if you want to eat once and be stuffed for the day: Moe's on Archer. It's a bit out of the Festing area, but it's quite delightful. Their biggest burrito is called the Homewrecker. I highly recco it.

For non-obvious I have to agree with Sawtooth about Flaco's.

This is only making me hungry. :(

Reggae Shack, close thread.

Actually, is there anywhere in Gainesville you can get a curry, or even the makings of one? I had no luck last year beyond the frozen 'thing' i found in a supermarket waay out of town. suffice to say it wasn't exactly the 'taste of india' the box had lead me to believe.

Well I'm pretty sure that Gyros place down the street from Mothers bar is gonna get a fair few votes from the UK crew as they do fantastic falafel and chips (or fries as you guys call them!) and then obviously Leos is well worth it for a slice or 6!

It's a bit out of the way and it's a countrywide chain so not something to be excited about for most of you but I'm a big fan of the black bean soup in a sourdough bread bowl from Panera. So much so I walked for fucking miles last year just to get one for lunch before Fest started!

You know ... it's closer too!

They say you either Love one or you Love the other. But I'm right in the middle; I don't really compare the two. Chipotle seems so much healthier, I know -- which is why I don't think it fits with the Fest.

At the Fest, we want to drink shitloads of cheap beer, sleep as little as possible, (many of us will) probably puke at least once, walk until there are blisters on our feet, contract fest-AIDS from high-fives, and see as many dirty punk rock bands as possible in the shortest time conceivable. To me, eating healthy just doesn't align with that. I say gimme the fatter, greasier, more chicken-filled burrito, for sure!

With that being said, I do love me some Chipotle too. ;)

there's a new restaurant in gville called 'buddha belly' i believe it's just off n main st, on 16th...by dominos and burger king. i've eaten there and it's tasty...i'm not a curry expert, but the meal i had didn't last much longer than about 3 minutes.

Perfect!

This year, when you start craving Panera, find me. I'll drive us to that plaza so you can get your black bean soup on and I can devour some Moe's!

rockthefuckon!

Deal! I may well give this Moe's place a go too or at least get some take out while I'm there. Looks like FoodFest 7 is taking shape nicely!

Edit: Just re-reading this thread has actually made me so hungry I'm gonna stop what I'm doing and start work on a mixed bean chilli!

Eating chips? missing Tampa to hang out in the irish pub with Brits? why go abroad at all!? you should set up a deck-chair outside Common Grounds, put a hanky on your head, roll up your trousers and pop on Radio 4..
