Take an empty 2litre bottle with you. Keep asking for miniature bottles. Keep handing empty miniature bottles back, eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet voila.

nah i knew nothing about these so called bands....maybe someone needs to fill me in (or up with)...CIDER!

there is cider here. but only strongbow is readily available. not all the yummy ciders that are everywhere in the uk. if you want nice cider here it takes a nice big chunck from the pocket.

I think I'd rather store alcohol and sleep on a plane, then drink and not sleep for days on American soil.. but y'know, swings and roundabouts. The important thing is there's free booze goin' on, let's not forget that..

Does UK to US qualify as long enough for free drinks? Important questions that demand answers. Timmy, when are you planning on being in the NY area? I am still thinking the 23rd will be my arrival day, then flying down to G-ville on the 28th.

from the day i moved to the uk i was a converted cider drinker. loves it but it is not so free flowing here which makes me sad. i have gone back to beer....wah

I lived in Melbourne for six months and found you could get Strongbow in bottles in most bars but it wasn't cheap and it tasted very different to English Strongbow. It had 4% pear juice in it which at the time was pretty much unheard of in the UK. Don't think I ever found it on tap anywhere though.

Only strongbow? I am failing to see an issue here.

i am pretty sure anything over 7 hours is considered long haul or maybe it is 9..blah i heard something sometime.

yea brisbane is not so up with the times. i am finding it easier to get cider now though. defo strongbow is in most places by the bottle but cider on tap is rare and i miss my pints...

as timmy said strongbow is different to uk strongbow. it is not so bad but i miss alpine cider and magners ...... oh how i miss magners...

It depends on the airline. I think any UK airline will give free booze as they know we'll get the hump if we have to pay but US airlines seem to be tight bastards. From experience I've had free booze flying Virgin and BA to the USA yet had to pay flying US Airways and United Airways. Virgin are the best, I asked the girl for a large vodka and she filled the cup to the top and gave me three ginger ale mixer cans. At this point she pointed out I probably had too much mixer and not enough vodka and gave me another half glass! I liked that girl!!

I'm gonna be in Chicago first anyway so I'll aim to get to NYC around the same time as everyone else... 23rd sounds about right. I wanna be there for the Young Livers gig whenever that is though. Flying to Gainesville on the 28th sounds good to me too.

It's spawn of satan! If I had the money I'd buy the entire UK stock of the stuff and ship it over to you just so I never have to drink it again!!

You will find it in most Irish bars in America though so no doubt I'll end up drinking it at some point anyway!

Young Livers is the 26th, probably somewhere New Jersey-ish. Lemuria and Gordon Gano's Army should be touring down too, so maybe there'll be a show kicking around the same time. 23rd til 28th gives plenty of time for everything I want to achieve/do in the area, I think. There should be a show at Asbury Lanes n'all, don't really care who is playing, just want to go!

When do our Australian friends arrive in NY? Where did you get your internal flights from, Timmy?

I booked through Delta over the phone as the web booking thing was fucked but the prices were the same as on the site. Think it was $106 each way last year.

Lemuria are on my list of bands to see in the US. Get Better is such a great record.
