I'm not sure I know this Craig you speak of, but he sounds like a fracking legend.

We will also be coming from Oz. We are in Sydney though. We are going to NYC first & then down to the Fest. Probably back to NYC after because we have some family there at the moment.

I'm sorry, Neck's from the UK. I was thinking of that Pirate folk punk band from Australia who's name escapes me.

Did you mean MUTINY? They are from Melbourne & they are fucking awesome, I'd love to bring them along to the Fest!

YES! that's them!

I've got a Mutiny CD, I need to dig it up. I think I bought it from the mini-flea market that Franz Nicolay had when I saw The Hold Steady a few years ago.

what some Australian Festers need to bring me is some beer from Down Under.

I want to try these breweries-

Redoak
Murray

and from NZ-

Emersons
Speights

whatever they have that is really heavy or really hoppy. Nothing fruity or light.

ah well hi steve. you should come to the Fest despite all the stuff you say makes it not possible. that is what credit cards are for man! or move out of flood town and come back to the big smoke.

and carly pretty sure free alcohol and me for 24 hours is going to keep you entertained enough. or we can stay up the night before get really drunk then pass out on the plane and sleep then party all night when we get there!

ooooh yea.

haha stop drinking. i don't think so. all cheap flights that i see from aus to nyc get in at 8pm. so we will be drunk and ready for party times. although it is a bit of a drag...maybe we can get drunk in the first 4 hours pass out sleep then get drunk in the last 4 hours. yes good plan me.

oh steve seriously. i have been overseas and unemployed since feb. stop finding excuses. but if you want to miss out on the time of your life go for it! haha. brisbane is treating me ok. started a new job today turns out rad peeps from back in the day work there so party. i have a six month contract so i either have to make them love me or quit before october. how is quiet old flood town going for ya? you coming down for gaslight?

Take an empty 2litre bottle with you. Keep asking for miniature bottles. Keep handing empty miniature bottles back, eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet voila.

Genius strikes again. I can't wait to drink with you guys, haha!

Can't see they'd take issue with an empty bottle (with the top off, potentially crumple the bottle to make it less conspicuous), but who knows. Worth a shot, I reckon. Worst case scenario they take it off you and you're forced to get shitfaced on the plane. Best case scenario, you come away with enough grog to make it worth while you sleeping for most of the flight and sticking to the original plan of storing sleep hours in place of not sleeping in New York.

This is assuming there's free drinks on the plane, but there should be. It has been a few years since I flew long-ish haul though.

yea alcohol is free long haul. i just did a long in feb (from your fine country i miss so much actually) and it was free and flowing.
good plan indeed. sleep sleep sleep drink drink drink drink drink drink drink....

i am oh so excited about spending 24 hours on a plane again. man i hate that this country is so far away from EVERYWHERE! i want to move back to the uk where flights are cheap, places are easy to get to, lots of bands tour and cider is free flowing.
