i've only heard the single so far, sounded pretty good. Can't wait to hear the rest of the album. Benny is one of the radder dudes i've met playing shows in a while, even though he roots for the new york teams

I've been listening to this all day and it's great. We've got them playing a pretty small venue in London at the end of August but I still hope they do Fest too. Sink or Swim was pretty much the soundtrack to my trip last year and it still brings back all sorts of great memories whenever I hear it.

Unfortunately Gaslight will not be making the Fest this year, as they have other touring plans. Bummer!

Is that for definite Jay? I bet there's gonna be a lot of upset English people...almost no one has a bad word to say about them over here!

I love Gaslight, but this record is very mediocre.

Sorry guys! But gah don't shoot the messenger! Yeah it's definite that they'll be on a different tour come Fest-time.
Kirby- I can tell you that as a big fan of the band, I don't think Sink or Swim captures all of those songs as well as their live show presents them. Don't get me wrong I love the record, but I think there's something about the production that doesn't thrill me. However, the band will be releasing their 3 song demo on a 7" in the near future so keep yr eyes peeled for that. When I got this demo on CD-R, I played the ever-loving SHIT out of it. It consists of Drive, We Came to Dance, and Navesink Banks, and to those of us close with the band there is a general consensus that the raw, scrappy demo versions of these songs are in fact a better portrait of the band's energy than those that ended up on the LP.
AND while it is certainly a disappointment that the boys won't be making it down for the Fest this year, rest assured that the band has some INSANELY awesome recording and touring plans in the not-so-distant future that is sure to delight you folks. BUT under pain of death that's about as much as I can say about that at this juncture!

Also, since you guys all seem so hungry for new Gaslight material, let me reccomend the exact opposite: XOXO Records (the same label that released the CD version of Sink or Swim) released a relatively unknown EP called "Every Little Secret" by an upstart band called This Charming Man. This EP is basically the proto-Gaslight. It's Brian Fallon fronting a band that would eventually go through lineup shifts and become the Gaslight Anthem as we know it. The EP is a little less roots rock and a little more punk/hardcore, but it's definitely informed by the same sensibilities and even contains an early version of what would become the Gaslight song "1930."
The EP is still in print and available from XOXO, it's just that not all that many people know about it, so I reccomend you guys check it out:

I messaged these chaps a wee while ago to see if they're looking for any more dates while they're over. Would be amazed if anything came of it, but, y'know, don't ask, etc.
