I'm really amazed no one has started a thread yet concerning all the shit that went down at the official Fest hotel this year. I'll admit to competing in the 4th floor underwear races, but I have no knowledge of the other craziness, just the carnage that I saw when I left my room in the morning.

yeah i got stuck up on the 6th floor, which was not very much of a party floor.

the pool party on saturday night was raging and awesome. i'm not sure who opened up the door to that thing but man, there must have been 150-200 people out there. shit-tons of fun until someone lit off the fireworks too early and the cops showed up. at some point i got glass in my foot.

oh well, it was a pretty awesome climax. i just wish it had happened a little later.

does anyone know what happened with the cops on the 4th floor? i heard some dude got beat-up, but dont know the story.

and all the Exit signs were busted, there was newspaper everywhere. The pool was a mess, I heard they were gonna tax on 100.00 dollars to everyones room, but I guess that was just a rumor. That place got fucked up.
I saw on the "news" that the citizens of Gainesville are pissed. haha. They showed some footage of the aftermath and I couldn't help but laugh. I guess there wont be any official Fest Hotel room next year.
Underwear races? sweet. I checked out the kegger in 405 and that was awesome. We got to go up to the 6th floor and hung out with Davey Tiltwheel and Dave Disorder, ate some pizza. All in all I had a blast. Holiday Inn can actually say the same thing i suppose. hhaa

oh yeah... go to my show on Sunday!

I was actually suprised at how much we were cracked down on at the hotel. When I heard the Holiday Inn was the Fest Hotel...my first thought was "sweet...total chaos will ensue". In Salisbury, we have a thing called the Smoke Out that used to come every year...and their hotel was the Holiday Inn. A friend of mine works 3rd shift there...and said they pretty much gave them free run to do whatever and expected the chaos. Smoke Out is a biker/music festival.

We did get away with a lot at the hotel though, and it was fun. But closing the pool at dusk? That is lame.

I was staying in 426 and definitely witnessed some of said underwear races. I however am not really a party person and didn't really see a lot of what was going on, closest was when I woke up on Saturday night and heard a shitload of noise coming from out in the hall. I didn't even want to begin to fathom what was going on.

the best was the quote from the cops after the aftermath.
something like this...
"every room we look in expecting to see 3-4 people has like 16 people in it all either passed out already or just wasted and each room is messier than the last. there are beer cans everywhere and people are pissing in the corners of the rooms. what the hell is going on here."

you know they must have been a little scared.

i got to the hotel before the chaos on saturday, when the doors of the elevator opened up on the 4th floor, there was a beer pong table set up with a keg in a rolling trash can full of ice. There were people having sex in the stairwell, then the pool got crazier and crazier. People were getting awesomely fucked up. Lots of the booger suger, at one point someone walked into the bathroom while i was taking a piss and asked what you should do with wet cocaine, haha. Always check your pockets BEFORE jumping in the pool. There was a point where i thought a couple people were gonna jump off the roof into the pool, there was a few people lined up on the roof.

Then i thought a riot was gonna break out when the cops showed up and shoved that kid to the ground, a huge crowd started pushing up to the cops yelling at them. Pretty much everyone i knew had too much drugs on them to start shit with the cops.

All the cops did was push everyone into the hallways where the chaos continued. Best quote of the night came from one cop when he started yelling

"THE NICE IS OVER"

2nd floor was the Philly floor and damn awesome.

My favourite cop quote of the weekend was just after they had arrested that guy my friend walks up to the cop and says "Are you gonna take him downtown?" the cop just looks at him and goes "Actually our jail is uptown."
Also did anyone notice the cop who looked like Squeak from Baseketball, he was an arse hole.

I wasn't even staying in the Holiday Inn but i spent Saturday and Sunday nights there, so much shit went down. Did anyone see that guy do a frontflip off the flower box onto the concerete, the fucking sound that made was horrible. Also putting meatspin.com on the computers in the lobby was great. And standing outside 520 with a big group of people looking for a party when an old women walks past and we all shout party in her room! I've never seen someone look so scared/bemused. Of course the classic of everyone running round the hotel after the cops came going sssshhhh!!
I heard someone tried to take a shit in the AC or something and thats why the cops showed up, i have no idea about the details of that rumour or if its even true.
I wish i could remember more but my brains just fried. Still was awesome late night fun at the Holiday Inn.

A friend of mine said he saw Dan Deacon standing there by the pool by himself, and the good doctor took his clothes off and jumped in.

Where are you guys seeing news reports about this?

I know somebody was filming the mobile rampage from the pool throughout the hotel.

Ok-so here's my take on the pool party madness. (Excuse any inaccuracies. I was not sober)

When we got there the party was already going full force. We didn't have beers and the convenience stores weren't selling beer at that point, I don't think. But some nice people gave us some beer from their stash, which was very generous (thanks!). And later I think we had some from the keg.

There was some swimming going on. We watched some dude in the pool convince someone to hand him a plastic lawn chair and proceed to attempt to sit on it in the water. (Clearly, he and the chair promptly sank).

Also, I will hereby officially state that Ryan Weber did the sweetest naked jump into the pool that I have ever seen. As he jumped in he turned his whole body horizontal, pulled his boxers off and splashed into the pool. It was like some cirque du soleil shit. Awesome.

Oh yea and there were some attempts at break dancing. And some people filling plastic shopping bags with water and throwing them on other people and things.

Oh and quite possibly one of the funnier/stranger moments of the night...I was sitting by the pool looking up at the hotel in my lazily drunk state. A few floors up some kid walks up to a window and looks down at the pool party. He proceeds to nonchalantly pick a towel up off the ground and wipe his feet off. Then he looks over at a 4ft tall potted plant, lifts the plant (mini-palm tree type thing) out of the pot and gingerly sets it on the ground next to the pot. After that, I can only assume he got on the elevator and came to the party.

Later, some kids starting shooting off fireworks. At one point, it appeared that one firework was shot off sideways (as if someone had dropped it on the ground as it was going off). People pretty much were diving out of the way. It was like a movie (or maybe I'm just a total wuss- sorry- fireworks are illegal where I'm from so I have no firsthand experience with them.) It was still pretty sweet though.

Then the cops came...it seemed they were just ushering people out of the pool area..no major confrontations. Then kids started chanting "USA USA USA!" which was amazing! And I think I even heard some people singing "bay boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do..". Also, amazing!
Then we went back to our room and passed out.

P.P.S. Were there any shows or musical performances at the Holiday Inn at any point. At one point during the weekend I thought I heard live music coming from another room...but I suppose it could have just been a boombox.

i was walking around the holiday inn Saturday night with my camera, i obviously left wayyyy to early from the pool party
although these guys wanted me to film their friend peeing all over the 4th floor hallway, i think in the end he just decided to go in his pants

man, the pool party was nuts. met the guy with the palm tree in his back claiming he was in the casulties and i said we were both in metallica. the great 520 party was fun. but that hotel got ruined. i feel sorry for the cleaners

I was the other guy in the bathroom at that moment. I told him to stick it up his ass and I think he considered it.
