From Vanessa and Patrick over at Lubricated Magazine:

just throwin' it out there...

lookin' for some talented writers/reviewers who would potentially be interested in getting on board with the kick-ass lubricated staff...

we've got so many great record labels and bands who keep sending us their records for review consideration in lubricated - and between patrick and myself, we can barely keep up with the massive stack of cds we have received.

so, if you think you have any sorta talent in the writing/review/honesty/not being a complete pretentious music prick... hit us up... send us some examples... and let us know what kind of time you're willing to put into this.

we cannot pay you, but we will give you appropriate credit and support.

we absolutely DO NOT support shit-talking reviews, etc... the whole point of our record review section is for a reader to take a copy of the zine into the record store and pick out a bunch of kick ass albums (in our opinion).

send all samples and other kinda shit to
lubricatedzine@gmail.com

cheers,
vanessa jean

lubricated the culture boner

now this is something i can get behind.

i've always thought it would be fun to be a reviewer, but i honestly don't think i would know a 'good song' if it bit me in the ass. i deem a song as 'good' if it's catchy, or makes me want to speak in ebonics and act all hard during the breakdowns.

Just no pointless shit-talking. Like the pre-show review posted in Pitchfork about HoH Fest. Nobody want to hear that kinda shit. I sure don't anyway. Why be negative?

I imagine if an album completely sucks it won't be reviewed. I mean what is the point of that. They post reviews of albums they suggest you buy. Trying to turn you onto new music.

Besides, the zine if put out mostly out of Vanessa and Pat's own pocket and ads. Why waste space and money on negativity.

And Lubricated is all about being open minded and doing new things. Getting off your fucking couch.

From Vanessa & Pat:

- this is not a cultural wasteland –

there is too much focus placed on meaningless bullshit these days – people are consumed by it – there is too much sitting around and doing the same old thing – don't waste your time – do something different – meet new people – find new interests – put yourself in different situations – make good use of what little time you have – there is some cool shit being done by some cool people – the revolution has been fully lubricated and has commenced – this zine is a platform – for whatever you want – music, art, writing, anything and everything – read a book – check out a band – go to an art gallery – submit something for the zine – be as involved as you want – just see all the worthwhile things going on around you and stop wasting your time on the bullshit – ¡viva la revoluciõn!

Yup, the music reviews are only a minor part of the zine.

oh well OP made it sound like a music magazine. so they're only looking for people to write about music or what?

i'm pretty opinionated, and sorta creative. and I certainly 'give a shit'. I may give too much of a shit. someone once tried to get me a radio show, it was to be called "Sean's bitch and moan hour" :D

I know a ton about photography and wiskey, but I'm no music critic. and I'm not gonna step on yer toes, so how about I just drink a bunch of wiskey and write articles on what stupid shit I do organized by the kind i drink? :D

so can I take out a full ad that's just a cover from another magazine? that would be awesome. and confusing.

it would be cool to have a place to publish my bullshit artistic photography. i got the journalism gig for the right brain. they're just so far away. there's lots of micro mags around here. but it looks cool! if I ever get something written down that's coherent enough for a magazine article I'll submit it. thanks for the info!
