(I can't stop laughing at how silly this is!)

Why make this thread? Because I often have funny, interesting, and otherwise completely random metal related stuff I want to share... and I think some of you would appreciate it.

You'll notice that I left this open to all types of metal because everyone has a different idea of what metal is. I like it ALL from 80s hair band glam to corpse painted bands.

My fave Metal thing that I ran across today is an awesome Black Metal portrait book that was recently released - True Norwegian Black Metal by Peter Beste:

(Example portrait.)

I'll be adding that book appropriately to my Xmas wish list.

What have you got to share???

I was just listening to old episodes of Issue Oriented today

best quote so far is when Dallas Coyle (from God Forbid) says Avenged Sevenfold is good for metal. his reasoning is actually pretty good for it
oh and the interview is about 2 years old

The Black Metal Dialogues, from the website:

Dave Hill is obsessed with Norwegian Black Metal, the exciting musical genre brought to international prominence in the early '90's thanks to a series of church burnings, murders, suicides, and other surefire attention-getting devices.

Recently his desire to become part of the scene reached such a fever pitch that he couldn't help but reach out to a longtime member of the Norwegian Black Metal community.

Fearing for his own life however, he wrote to him not as himself but as his alter ego- a 19 year-old kid from Gary, Indiana named Lance, frontman, leader, and sole member of the self-proclaimed greatest Black Metal band ever, Witch Taint: http://myspace.com/witchtaint

The following is their unaltered e-mail correspondence:

this reminds me of the guy who pretended to be a little kid and wrote letters to a ton of famous serial killers. He kept the gimmick up for several years, and eventually published a book. I'll have to see if I can figure out his name and crap.

Yeah, I've read those and thought they were great! I didn't know he was doing a book though. Let me know if you remember who the author is.

well, I remembered where I saw the letters semi-recently, and checked that magazine's online archives. I was mistaken about the book, or at least amazon doesn't have it, but some of the letters scanned are here-

I've noticed lately that Amazon does not have nearly the selection its reputation would have you believe. Wouldn't surprise me if Bill Geerhart has written several books, but Amazon just doesn't know about them, or has them listed some way that makes it impossible to search for.

Holy shit, that fat guy has got to be Nattefrost...notorious for showing his oily self and pissing all over the place at gigs(maybe the black metal version of Paddy or something?). And for the record, Dani Filth is nowhere near as black metal as a pug.

I have been waiting for this thread to appear since the board came up, and I didn't even realize it.

Fest board, thy metal god has arrived.

Those Manson ones are great. The guy's so out there.
And no metal thread could be complete without one of these:
