For those of you that know Rob McGregor but don't already know, he was badly injured by a car a couple weekends ago and now has quite a tally of medical bills building up.

For those of you that don't know who Rob is, he is also Goldentone Studio in Gainesville. Which is responsible for recording many of the bands for there that you know and love. Hot Water Music, Radon, and Against Me! are only a few of the hundreds. As well as plenty of bands in other parts of FL and beyond.

Gville already started to pull together as a community for Rob and had its first benefit shows 2 days after his accident.

The next one is:

August 15th @ Common Grounds - $5
Laserhead, Cutman, The Rockhill-Sessions Band (one of their last shows in a LONG time)
doors @ 5 with BBQ from Chunky T's

--

I will update the benefit shows here as they happen.

Rob has also personally given me permission to collect monetary donations in his name.

MAKE A DONATION TO ROB MCGREGOR HERE (This will take you directly to PayPal.)

Thanks guys!

Rob's a solid guy and I never really knew how much till a mutual friend of ours was in trouble. He's a great person and does so much for our music community.

give him love!

If I had known there were benefit shows going on we would have played in an instant. I wonder if his new studio is still empty...if he held a benefit show there I bet he'd make a lot of extra money, seems more people come out in a byob situation.

We play at the Atlantic this Saturday for the Anchor Arms cd release, we'll donate whatever money we make there to Rob. We've recorded with him twice soon to be 3 times, great dude and we haven't wanted to go to anyone else after we went to him.

I'd 99.9% sure Against Me! will do SOMETHING for Rob. They are really good friends obviously, when I went to rob's to drop off his saw I borrowed Tom was in there recording some solo stuff I believe right before I left on tour, so they still rock the goldentone quite often. If they don't do a show for him (which they are totally capable of selling out 2 shows in two nights here in gville) I wouldn't be suprised if they just shelled out some cash to 'em. They are still great dudes like that.

I highly suggest against any ideas about shows at his place. It would really stress him out beyond belief. I know he'd want to help and keep an eye on things and he can barely get around right now.

That benefit above was literally put together overnight by those bands. I imagine there will be many benefit shows for Rob. So if anyone wants to put one together for him or donate your money to him go ahead. No need to have everyone play all at once.

The BBQ starts at 5PM and likely runs until around 9PM or until the food runs out. I imagine the bands won't start until 9:30/10PM.

Yeah, I won't be there either. Sorry, I've been planning on being at/shooting AFR for months now. And I've got friends in the band that I haven't seen in years expecting to hang out.

But if you'd prefer a more relaxing and less crowded show go to the one at Common Grounds for sure.

Good point, I've been to benefits of theirs before. And yeah, they are great guys. So I just emailed them.

I'm collecting names of musicians/bands that are wanting to participate in future benefits. So if you'd like to be added to this list please let me know. Please keep in mind that I AM NOT personally booking these shows ,but will help out as much as I can. This list is purely means of helping to fill in the appropriate genre gaps in future benefit shows. So if you are planning a benefit show and need bands, let me know.

Thanks guys!
