i don't have a whole lot of debt.
like 9k on student loans
maybe 10k left on my car
no credit card
no mortgage
i will be paying both my student loan, and car off, this month. maybe even this week if i remember to call them up and get it taken care of.
it'll be awhile before i buy a house, primarily because i have absolutely zero interest or time to deal with the maintenance. im cool with renting, even though i know it's like throwing my money away. sadly, i saved up a bunch of money for a fat downpayment, because we were actually going to buy a house, but we won't be in gville long enough for it to be a wise investment...that and we're both not into doing home maintenance.

about 80K in student loans and less than a G on my credit card. if I didn't have my student loan, I'd be living like a fat cat.

I used to think I had a lot of debt, but now after reading about everyone else's debt, mine isn't so bad. Got a student loan that's still growing but it's only at about 3k right now, a couple hundred in medical bills, a couple hundred on a car, and my bank account is like $300 negative right now.

I have a tendency to make my friends feel better about themselves when i tell them that my loan costs more than my rent... my rent right now is 725. and that I have to pay for my health insurance with my dad's help to boot.
Money and being an adult sucks.

At least you can afford to pay it all. I don't think I even make that much in a month. And you have health insurance on top of it. I'd say you're doing alright

i live by the general rule that if i can't afford to pay for it in cash, up front...i probably don't need it. obviously there are exceptions, like a house, and maybe a car.

I can only afford it because I work over 45 hours a week working two jobs. My health insurance is half my rent which my dad is helping with.
Doing all right, I suppose so. I just wish I didn't have to pay that much. Fuck NY. I want to live on a farm and raise pigs, but not eat them.

Man, must be nice to have nearly 20k laying around like that. I'd pay off most of my remaining mortgage or all of my school loan.
Wait k = $1000 right. I'm mathtarded.

I had a piggy at my ranch here, but sadly she's gone now to pig heaven. Natural causes, I wouldn't eat one either.

So yeah, the above statement does hold true then.

yeah, i've been meaning to pay this stuff off for a couple months. it kills me to have that kind of money just sitting in my account doing nothing for me. i'm great at saving money, but not great at investing it wisley, or at all. it kind of just sits there.

and on that topic, i've been meaning to invest a bunch of money that just sits around, and i'm always looking for opinions. my investor guy has opinions too, but he just wants to make himself some money.

Get rid of your investor guy, you don't need him.
I have IRAs with PaxWorld - http://paxworld.com/about/
"Pax World Funds launched the first socially responsible mutual fund in the United States in 1971. The Funds are dedicated to promoting peace, protecting the environment, advancing equality, and fostering sustainable development."
More:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pax_World_Funds
On a similar note, my long distance company is Creedo (previously Working Assets). Similar not because it is an investment but because:
"Working Assets was created in 1985 on a strong foundation of beliefs, a credo. Supporting peace, equality, human rights and the environment is the reason we exist. That is why each time one of our customers uses our mobile, credit card or long distance services, we donate a portion of their charges to these causes."
http://www.workingassets.com/
http://www.credoaction.com/
I wish I had know these kinds of companies existed earlier in my life. That's why I'm posting this info here for my punk peers.

I can't wait to have some property to stick my horse on. I plan on having at least one pet pig as well.
