i just got bitched at tonight by some friends for hating on the following two bands:
nirvana
pearl jam
i wouldn't say i dislike either of them, i'm just indifferent, they each have their moments i guess

I've gotten a lot of dirty looks for this one.
I don't really like them that much, but I interviewed them once and Brendan was a very good dude.

I've met Brendan a couple of times and he has never been anything less than a likable nice guy. He even gave me a free hat once.
First time i've heard anything to the contrary to be honest.

50/50 for me. Nirvana I can listen to and appreciate but I rarely feel the need to put a Cd on.
Pearl Jam I have and will never get into, and the majority of my friends have been into them at some point. They just don't seem to have anything to offer that a ton of other bands I actually like do better.
But hey thats just me, different strokes an all that.

most of my friend like either a lot of really awful generic hardcore, or they like a lot of really awful generic indie bullshit that that leans towards either being dancy or jammy.
I love both hardcore and indie rock, but I don't like Terror or Bloc Party. Or the million bands that rip off those two.

it's funny, was reading an interview with Dr Dan, he was talking about how much Nirvana influenced the songwriting on the new Paint it Black album. i don't hear it, but what are you going to do...

I'm not a huge Nirvana fan, but you can't deny that they changed the entire music industry.

Hey we should get Nirvana to play The Fest. Kurt's daughter can fill in for him, just like with Van Halen and the Allman Brothers Band.

Terror is awful, I agree.

did THEY change the music industry? or was it some exec who decided that they would be the band to do it? i'm pretty sure it was inevitable at that point

I can't think of any currently. But, several years ago, seemingly ALL my friends loved Boys Night Out and I couldn't stand them, still can't.
Actually, did think of one:
Against Me! (then and now)
