What kind of venue is Sluggo's? A rock club, a bar, a house? I'm assuming a bar or club or something...how late do their shows tend to run? More specifically, how late will the Ergs/Hunchback show on July 17th run?
THIS IS ESSENTIAL INFORMATION because myself, Joey Erg, and J Hunchback need to see a midnight showing of The Dark Knight that night and will not hesitate to bring the tour to a screeching halt to do so.
Also, what would be a good theatre close by to see the movie that would definitely be showing it at midnight? Are there any IMAX joints in the area?
Also if anybody would like to go with us please come along!

I remember when I was small, the first time I ever heard the word Pensacola I thought it was another type of coke, like Cherrycola or Pepsicola or something. What a letdown that was.
Edit: I've just realised what a standard reflection this must be, and therefore what dreadful chat it is. Apologies to any Pensacolans!

hey man! unless they changed it up, it looks like a bar/cafe/venue all in one. you walk in, the stage (maybe 2-3 feet high on the left hand side), booths on the opposite wall, open area in front of the stage, 'L' shaped bar and bathrooms past that with a bunch of beers and food (dunno if it's all vegetarian/vegan, but definitely alot of options for those). i think members of This Bike is a Pipe Bomb and/or Ashley from Future Virgins owns the place. it's pretty laid back.
this is their myspace: http://www.myspace.com/sluggos
this is a contact: sluggosbooking@hotmail.com or 850 435-1541
if you need Terry or Teddy from This Bike's number i'll PM it to you.
as for theatres....i don't really know where the closest one is or anything.

yeah, i've never been to Sluggo's, but I've been hearing about it for years, and it's supposed to be a pretty cool place. I'm sure if you told them what you wanted, they could make it work out. They've got a rep as a really solid, friendly place.
theater with a midnight showing- http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0468569/cin ... 2008-07-17
you can even buy tickets online now.
google maps says it's about an hour drive from Pensacola, so you might want to wrap up your set by like 10:00. wow, that's early.
probably out of luck on IMAX.

actually, it's nice to know how ignorant Europeans are of US geography and general US things. Puts all those videos of Americans getting simple questions wrong in perspective.

Thanks for the help guys. I really couldn't live knowing there were people out there who'd seen the new Batman film before me!

from the looks of places on Fandango. there's theatres closer than an hour away....but they might not have midnight showings. if my personal computer's working, i'll ask my friend mike. he lives up there, plays shows at Sluggo's, and is a big comic nerd.

In my defence, I was probably about six. Hopefully not comparable to adults thinking Italy's part of the Axis of Evil, and whatnot.

I meant no disrespect by the use of the word "ignorant." But I can understand why someone would think Italy might be in the Axis of Evil. because they were part of the Axis Powers in WWII. You know, the three main countries that actually had an ALLIANCE with each other. Unlike President Bush's bullshit "axis" of three countries that have nothing to do with each other. not to mention that using the word "evil" makes it sound like something out of a silver age comic book. OK, enough ranting.

pensacola is a dump. they don't even have a publix! WTF
so i doubt they'll be showing new batman at midnight thursday night. you'll probably have to wait til the next morning.
sluggo's is tight though. their new show space used to be an AA meeting place. and they have really good vegan food, dollar schlitz in a can (just like high school!), root beer on tap, and sometimes Zima! haha. and ryan greensboro is a bartender there. so it'll be a good time.

I second that. I used to make it to Sluggo's for shows whenever I could. They've changed the layout of the place, made it bigger, so that the bar and dining area and stage area are separate. It's the only cool thing in Pensacola, pretty much.
