"Hey!
we have been getting lots of mail inquiring about defiance, ohio and the Fest in Gainesville this October.. defiance, ohio WILL NOT be playing the Fest. we love no idea and the town.. but we decided it just isn't really the right choice for us to play this year.. we miss touring Florida and getting to spend time with folks down there on a smaller scale. thanks so much for your interest in our plans... sorry if it means you will miss us... hopefully we can make near you soon.
xoxo,
defiance, ohio"
i still don't understand the response it almost comes off like there saying The Fest is to big of an event for them to play

some bands have a very strong preference for smaller crowds. I enjoyed seeing them last year, but I think I would have enjoyed it MUCH more if there had been about a quarter as many people in the crowd, or even fewer.

whoa, I'm claustrophobic. I need to front/center or on the side in the front. I can't see all those heads in front of me unless I'm sauced.
Is this why we find each other at the front Jana - even when you're not shooting?

Its because I LOVE the music so much and if i have to be crammed in with a ton of people I'm sure as hell going to see it, up front
But the point of my comment was to say that some bands I HATE to see in large venues. Like the Avett Brothers. That Venue show was a bummer compared to all the others. Uh, that and the stinky hippie girl we almost fought. Oh the irony.

I hear ya! That was my worst Avetts show.
People need to understand that I spend lots of time with the heavybag JUST so I won't be punching douchebags left and right when I'm out. Very high boiling point, but man that girl really pushed my limits.
I had a similar run-in just recently at the venue, this time with a dude.

Must be the Venue, lot of meat heads there. I have ZERO tolerance for bullshit while I'm watching a band. Hmmmm, or when I'm dancing even now that I think about it. Some moments shouldn't be disturbed.
I got in a fight on the damn dance floor with a guy and girl back in the early 90s. The were grinding all up one one another and kept bumping up on me. I wasn't having it and pushed them off me. The kept saying, "we're just trying to have fun!?"
And I'll tell you what, being touched by a couple that is pretty much dry humping on the dance floor is NOT my idea of fun. Besides, it was to a Smiths song that is all about going out to a club lonely and leaving alone. Bad timing on their part. Oh to be goth and poopy...hehehe

me too, but it is much rarer for a band to actually make a commitment to intimate shows.

Defiance Ohio is too cool for the Fest before being too cool for the Fest gets cool.
