"After almost ten years of NMDS there seems to be no more dead horse left to kick. We will be playing a pre-Fest show in Tampa on October 29th, and The Fest itself looks like it will be our final show as NMDS. Thanx to everyone that have been rad over the years. You know who you are.
On a couple of positive notes, there are no hard feelings between any of us, and we have our new bands GATORFACE and VIRGINS both releasing shit this year. There is also a new project in the works with a certain sadistic magician that hopefully some of you will be stoked about. More to come on that front later."
sad news, but at least there are a few side projects going that are awesome

Noooooooooooo!!!!! Ugh this band never got the attention they deserve. Virgins and gatorface are both really good so I guess that makes up for it a bit. hope they get really good crowds for there last 2 shows. I'll be at tampa for sure

I'm actually pretty bummed about this one. I like NMDS better than the other two projects. Shit city.

dude i really do feel a curse. isn't 7 suppossed to be a fucking lucky number?!
i know it must suck for you Erica because we've talked in the past about you seeing them open up for Strike Anywhere when no one even knew who New Mexican Disaster Squad were.
i almost don't blame them because both Virgins and Gatorface are pretty good bands and they're great live but I hate myself for all those years I took advantage of the fact that I lived in Orlando along with NMDS so i could always catch them "if i had to" at the next show, now I'm realizing after the last few shows I saw them kill and how much fun I had that there were never any shows I could afford to miss.

It isn't just this year. Bands seem to break up every year and have their "last show" at the Fest. But how many of them are really the last show?
Bands that said it was there last show at Fest 6 (may be more):
Savage Brew, Quadiliacha
Quadiliacha has had other shows, Savage Brew has not. Planes Mistaken For Stars also had one of their final shows at the Fest last year. Any more?
And some bands never really break up, they just play Fests instead. Like Assholeparade and Radon. We see them at the Fest every year. I mean it s Radon's running joke about breaking up.

yeah I used to live in Orlando, I remember pretty much every weekend there was a New Mexican Disaster Squad show. The problem is pretty much all the times I saw them no one ever showed up or seemed to be into them. probably why they used to tour so much.
Resident Weirdo's was another amazing orlando band that never got any attention. I should upload their cd.
