Grand Rapids Michigan to Gainesville round trip: 2320 miles
2320 miles / 34 mpg = 68 gallons
68 gallons x $4.09 = $278 total
I guess it's not really too bad if we pack 4 deep in a Chevy Aveo (assuming my girlfriend lets us take it), only like $70 per person so it's nothing compared to all the Japanese, British, Aussies, etc.
Who is spending the most just on transportation to Fest? I want to feel lucky to live only a 18 hour drive from Gainesville.

I would say most of us from the UK will be spending in the region of $700 for flights as well as an average of maybe $80-100 to get to and from our local airports in the UK.
It does seem nice and cheap for us when we finally get there though!

That's intense, Carly.
Like Timmy says, probably about US$700ish on return flights to NYC from Glasgow, but also internal flights to G'ville and back. I haven't even looked at costs for that yet.

Do Virgin fly out of Glasgow? Last year we got returns to NYC for about £250 and they dropped to about £230 after we booked. That was direct through the Virgin Atlantic website. We didn't book until way nearer the time though. Newark-GNV return with Delta was just over £100.

Don't think so. Best bet so far seems to be KLM, but that involves changing at Amsterdam, which is a drag.

about $1600 in total i'd say.
it sounds insane like that, but the dollar is really weak globally and you guys generally pay fuck-all for stuff so we are getting an amazing deal overall. I think if your money was worth less to you within the States then it'd kinda balance out, but whereas your records are priced at like $7-8 new, we're paying the same amount plus more in pounds here, which is an average equivalent of $20 per record.
