Coopers is easily my favorite Autrailian beer. Especially the Cooper's Vintage Ale. Baron's is not bad either. But Australia seems to have a lot of shitty lagers too.

My drink lately has been a "Black Velvet" .
Half Guinness and half Strongbow (or whatever cider the bar has on tap, though I prefer Strongbow). Only two places I go to in Gville even have cider on tap though.

If anyone is coming from poland or has a beer store that sells hevelius. Please bring it. I used to be able to get it from world of beer around here, but they don't have it anymore.

I'd be delighted if I could get some Sam Smiths Cider Reserve while at The Fest but I'll settle for Strongbow which is probably more likely!!

I'm a Wales away follower and can concur that Kenny is dead right!!! There were some lovely and ridiculously cheap beers in Belgrade when I went!!
Kenny wrote: I've never heard of any of those, but I love trying new beers. It's one of the best things about following Scotland to away (football / soccer) matches, especially when it's to an eastern European or former Soviet bloc country.

Got any trips coming up, Andy? I've got Macedonia and Iceland shortly before Fest, which is a real wallet-killer. And they're in the same week, so it's a ridiculous path we're taking:
Glasgow > Frankfurt > Belgrade > Skopje > Belgrade > Frankfurt > Reykjavik > London > Glasgow. In about 10 days.

We've got Russia and Germany both away from home in World Cup qualifiers before Christmas and Denmark away in a friendly in November. I'm not sure I'll be able to make any of them due to The Fest and a possible Vegas trip in November to watch Joe Calzaghe beat Roy Jones into next week.
Belgrade if fantastic, probably my favourite Wales away trip. From Monday to Friday I spent £50 all week on food and drink and that's eating and drinking well!!

Alas we're only in Belgrade for enough time to just about make it into town for a jar. Sure Skopje'll make up for it, though!

I'm a huge beer nerd as well! Although, it's easy to be one in NYC- even the corner deli's almost always have a great selection. It'd be nice to see some good beers at the Fest. But I really look forward to how cheap everything is down there and I love PBR anyhow. The "Fest punch" (I think that's what it was called) at Common Grounds last year was awesome too! Sort of weak, but refreshing and totally what I needed in that hot ass venue. Anyone know what was in it?
Anyway if I can figure out a way to pack some beers into my suitcase I'd be happy to try to bring you a few hard-to-find beers, if you're interested.

Common Grounds and Market St pub I take it? The Atlantic and Mothers (or the Shamrock as it was called) both had cider on tap during Fest 5 but no such luck last year. Maybe you should run around and warn all the bars there's gonna be a Brit invasion so they should stock up on the loopy juice!

I'm somewhat of a beer nerd...I don't dabble too deeply, but I do love the following beers that some may not be familiar with:
Sweetwater420 (Atlanta, GA)
Rogue Deadguy Ale (Eugene, OR)
Abita Turbodog (Nawlinz, LA)
Dogfish Head 60minute IPA
Magners Cider (the only cider I really crave)
Full Sail IPA (and just about any other IPA from the PacNW)
Fat Tire
I'm definitely loving IPAs this summer...my tastes wander though, so I'm sure I'll find something else to call my favorite by the time Fest comes around.

I like the first 4 beers on that list. Never had Fat Tire.

are the Bells bears any good
i've heard that the Two Hearted Ale or Kalamazoo Stout are good, there is some random liquor store in Gainesville that apparently sells it too.

yes, Bell's is an excellent brewery. Two Hearted Ale is one of my all time favorites.
Gator beverage is this tiny little unassuming liquor store right on University Ave, probably THE closest liquor store to The Official Fest Hotel. Places look slike a totaly dump, but they have an amazing selection of great beer. But most of it isn't cold, so be sure to buy in advance of when you wanna drink.
