Now I don't mind drinking PBR by any means, but I usually drink high quality craft beers. Stuff like Avery, Dogfish Head, Terrapin, Rogue, Great Divide, Lagunitas, etc etc.

any fest-goers with similar interest in beer? Maybe someone coming from out of state (or out of country!) could bring me stuff I can't get down here? I've got a wish list.

Gainesville has a few places with really good beer selection. Stubbies Pub has a pretty good selection, but they are a little overpriced. Gator Beverage has a GREAT selection, and good prices. That little wine shop next door to what used to be No Future Records has some good stuff, and they'll chill a bottle for you and let you drink it there.

I also homebrew, but it's been quit a while since I made a batch. i want to make some very soon, but I'm currently unemployed, so I can't really afford ingredients at the moment.

There were a couple of friendly German guys there last year, if they're coming this year I bet they could bring you something nice.

We have great ales over here but I'm a cider drinker so don't really know a good drop from a bad one when it comes to beer! I do know PBR is not exactly a classy brew though!

I've never heard of any of those, but I love trying new beers. It's one of the best things about following Scotland to away (football / soccer) matches, especially when it's to an eastern European or former Soviet bloc country.

I have noticed before that some Britons (certainly not all) have a really bad attitude about American beer, and are horribly misinforned. if you wanna try to schedule a devoted beer session, maybe early on Friday before the Fest really warms up, i'd be happy to give youa crash course in US beers. I'll have to stop around 4 beers though, if I want to have any fun at the shows later that night.


I love a lot of British, German, Scandanavian, Baltic, and Australian beers, but US brews are my first love.

Yeah, US beer certainly has a certain rep here. I'm happy to try anything though, and for a cheap as chips bog standard effort I didn't even mind PBR, although that was possibly because I was ridiculously excited about everything. I'd be delighted to get involved in a Fest mini-beer Fest!

what styles do you generally like? stouts? porters? IPA? barleywines? octoberfest? dopplebock? pilsners? wheat?

I'm not to so into stouts or heavies, or whites or pales, but everything in between, pilsner, wheat, whatever else, it's all good!

I went to the Sam Adams brewery back in March. Shit was like a religious experience.

Left Hand and Oskar Blues are both good. I could go for some Dale's Pale Ale or Old Chub right now.

last Feb I visited Atlanta and found Left hand Rye Bock, it was really good. I love rye in beer, wish more breweries used it.

Maybe we could have everyone bring a six pack or two of their local favorite. We could meet up and swap and drink 'em Friday at the pool party or something like that.
