Tickets bought.
Pretty much 6 months pregnant come Fest weekend.

There was a post like this back in 2009 but I wanted to see if there was any FESTers going this year, or that actually have been before, whilst pregnant?

I'm more against going now but I thought I'd see if anyone had any advice to offer in case I do decide to brave it.

This will be my fifth Fest, and as a woman I wouldn't seriously advise you against it. Then again, I have never been pregnant. But it's not like you'll be right at the end. There's a big difference between six months and nine months.

Just in case you've never been to Fest, here's a run-down:
-Lots of being on your feet (official shows start around 3 p.m. and go until 2 a.m). There are floors, but almost no seats anywhere. My back and feet do not like me after the first night, and my back doesn't shut up most of Sunday.
-All the venues allow smoking. People take full advantage of this. Think of the fetus.
-I don't know how much you'll miss alcohol during your baby cooking, but beers are EVERYWHERE you look during Fest. If you think temptation to drink and thus fry your baby's brain will be an issue, I'd advise against going.
-There's also a good bit of walking between venues (mostly when switching venues). They're all within a reasonable distance, but some are as far as half a mile or so.
-Eating times become erratic. You could probably sneak some granola bars in your purse or under your tummy, but that's your call. I have a hard time making dinner a priority over seeing The Bouncing Souls.
-Like all punk shows, people get rowdy. It's not hard to stay away from the pit, but you never know when someone might accidentally sock you in your baby bump.
-All the BIG bands go on toward 10 or 11 p.m. If you think you'll tire quickly, this means missing smaller bands earlier in the day to rest up for the headliners.

Again, I've never been pregnant, but I'd say go for it. But you'll really need to pace yourself, which means missing a lot of what Fest has to offer. DEFINITELY talk to your doctor/midwife/shaman. But bear in mind, it's a lot easier to Fest before the kid comes (unless you can get someone to look after your toddler for a whole weekend).

Hope this helps!!

Thank you for the reply :)!
I've been the past two years to Fest so I know how it is really, of course not with a child brewing inside of me. I know I'm pretty much not going, I just mainly wanted to see if anyone has been brave enough to do it! I'm more than gutted about missing out but this baby does come first. My mom in law has already told me and my husband that she will always be there to baby sit, she'd love to so I could definitely convince her to look after the little one next year. It just feels wrong not going!

'I have a hard time making dinner a priority over seeing The Bouncing Souls.'

I'm going to miss having that option!

As much as I hate to say it mate I think you should give it a miss this year, I know you would never put yourself at risk but there is a lot of drunken idiots at Fest (me included) who are not gonna put you & Lucy jr first. Just think how good its gonna be at Fest 12, baby all at home in Texas, you drunk off your ass on PBR searching for a Paint It Black baby grow! :)

I went to Fest 7 (*edit* not Fest 8, that's the year I didn't go*) pregnant. Obviously, I didn't drink. Every show I went to, I stood in the back. Do I recommend it? It was alright. I left early & I wish I would of stayed for the house shows. I was like 5 months pregnant?

Thank you everyone :)
I've decided to not go sadly. I don't want to be a burden on my husband and friends at the best weekend of the year really! Maybe next year :)

Totally, just gutted! I've recently moved to the states from Bristol so Fest was the only chance I could see a bunch of friends!
