I kind of hate to keep this thread veer going, but I'm asking an honest question here, and am truly curious to hear your point of view _ellison. Do you know Masked Intruder (playing Durty Nelly's on Sunday)? If so, is your opinion of that band the same as your view of The Dwarves? I'm not familiar with The Dwarves material at all, so I don't have a horse in that race, but would be interested on your take on Masked Intruder based on your Dwarves comments.

Thank you in advance,

Honestly, I don't know much about Masked Intruder. At first I thought they were a joke band about B&Es. But then I read a blog post about how some of their songs are actually about breaking into women's houses/waiting creepily outside their houses/sexually harassing women… Which is SUPER NOT OK.

nickswift on Tumblr described their schtick as– "it’s a band of masked sexual predators who sing what would be considered standard rock and roll love songs if it were not for the fact that all the lyrics are about stalking women and breaking into their houses rather than the traditional courtship-fare we’re all used to."

What guys need to understand is that women deal with being afraid of/making efforts to prevent sexual assault on an almost daily basis. Let me re-phrase that for you– hardly a day goes by that I do not do something to avoid being raped. It affects where I go after dark, how I park my car, how I respond to men I don't know, what I wear, how I approach returning to my apartment after a long absence… Men do not realize how many things they do without thinking that I would think twice about or would NEVER do.

And Masked Intruder is a band of dudes dressing up as would-be rapists and writing songs about it. Is that something you really want to support? One in four women is sexually assaulted in her lifetime. This means Masked Intruder is telling a number of people in their audience that the worst thing that ever happened to them is actually hilarious and they're going to write upbeat, catchy pop-punk songs about how they'd like to do that to someone else.
One in 20ish men commits sexual assault. Given the venue is large enough, this band could be telling quite a few dudes they don't have to back off when a woman tells them, "no." Is that something you really want to support?

Just something to think about.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I think you should listen to the Masked Intruder album. No one in their right mind would get the idea that it's ok to assault women after listening to a masked intruder song. It's one of the best albums of the year. It's a goofy schtick. Everyone in the crowd (guys/girls) is in on the joke. They aren't dressing up as rapists. They're dressed up as petty criminals with brightly colored ski masks, matching shoes, and guitars. The lead singer has a very non-aggressive high pitched voice which adds to the comedy of songs like "Stick-em Up", which is about mugging a guy in an alleyway.

wooo so how about them Fest vip passes? has anyone purchased them? I would but my friend can't afford one, so if i did buy one it would be more of a charitable donation to the Fest, which I'm not against by any means.

now if they could do like a fastpass one ticket to skip one line and they were 15 a piece i bet everyone would scoop up one... just so they could get in to their Favorite band of the Fest without having to campout in the venue... just a thought

This is so fucking sick. I might not listen to much of anything else all week.

When this shit came out, it would have been damn near impossible for any one person to actually get their hands on all of these records.
