Booking up my Fest flights this week and will be going to Toronto after for 4/5 nights. Can anyone recommend anything particular to do/see/stay while there?
Thought I'd treat myself as it's a long way to go just for Fest from the UK!!

If you feel like being a nerd, the Royal Ontario Museum has some really nice collections (especially their dinosaurs!). I think it used to be half price fridays after 4:30, not sure if they still do this. I like sneaky dees: restaurant/bar and have some great shows (like larry and his flask and the riot before).

My wife and I live one hour south of Toronto across the lake.
Kensington Market and the surrounding streets are cool to check out - vintage stores, restaurants, etc.
Good music stores are Rotate This and Hits & Misses on Queen St. W.
We like going to a natural food store on Bloor St. W. called Panacea for vegan foods not found elsewhere in the area. I don't know of any other restaurants to recommend because the one we used to love with mock meat and cheap prices has closed down a few years ago and yet to reopen. We haven't been back for a dinner in a long time, though we used to get pizza at Amato's Pizza on Queen St. W. when we'd be nearby for shows and remember it being very good and priced well.
There is a big mall on Yonge St. called the Eaton Centre with lots of stores. Nearby Queen St. W. also has many shops.
Too bad this visit wasn't in the summer because walking down to the harbourfront is a nice place to go. It is probably very empty in November.
Can't recommend a cheap hotel - because we live so close we don't usually stay there, though we've stayed at a hostel on Augusta Avenue and it was okay - think it may have been called College Hostel. This is in the Kensington Market by the way. My wife has stayed at the Fairmont for work and she said it was great. Two total opposites in terms of price and accomodations.
Going up the CN Tower is a very touristy thing to do but the view is great and the glass floor is cool.
Aside from all of this, our best times in Toronto were probably spent just walking around all day and checking out any cool stores that we saw.
If you are renting a car you should try coming down to Niagara, too. Niagara Falls is cool to see. There are good hiking trails and restaurants here. We'd show you around if you were coming for a day trip or something.
