Hey guys!
Sorry not a regular poster on here but just thought I'd say hi and see if anyone (by chance!) was flying into Orlando roughly the same day/time as my boyfriend and I (I know, chances are probably slim but thought worth a shot!?).
Just bought our flights from UK and we get in Tuesday 25th around midday so if there was anyone around that sort of time I'd be up for doing car share or something?
Is Tuesday a good day to get to Gainesville? I know the Fest starts Friday but just wondered if there will be other Fest goers getting there early to check out Gainesville like us?
Look forward to meeting you all xx

me and my friends are arriving in the morning on thursday to Orlando, and because the hotel checkin is until 4pm, we are planning on staying walk on the streets of Orlando, looking for cool places, and heading to Gainesville that evening

We arrive in Jacksonville on Tues 25th. Although our flight gets in at like 11:30pm so it's pretty much the 26th.
Still trying to figure out best way to get to Gainesville from Jax

lucy, if i were you i'd take advantage of being in orlando and have some touristy fun tues/wednesday
there's pre festis on thursday, possibly one on wednesday, but tuesday would probs be pretty dead.
if you do go to gainesville early though, take advantage of no queues and eat at some of the awesome restaurants.
yum!

usually there are shows on wed + thu in orlando, tampa and gainesville.. here the threat of last year (also a lot of the bands of the tampa pre Fest miss in the first post), should give you an impression: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=16890&hilit=pre+Fest+shows+combinedtampa pre Fest day 2: http://www.lastfm.de/event/1702408+PRE-FEST+DAY+2I was never in G'ville before friday, but there is always 2-3 prefests there on thursdayand from what I heard a lot of festers start to come tuesday/ wednesday.. wasn't wednsday the day all the brits/ scotish invade the mothers pub? in the end wherever you go, orlando, tampa or gville - you will meet hordes of festers and have fun.. two years ago i was wednesday in orlando for the wilhelm scream show, just one block of the motel on the way to the venue we ran into the first festers...

gainesville is great before the Fest, chilling out, going to all the nice food places, having a few quite nights drinking. for Fest 8 we got there on the tuesday i think, and spent wednesday walking round the university and then there was a great gig with radon and whiskey and co at the atlantic, then thursday is pre Fest. and wednesday used to be mug night too, but i guess they've stopped that. i'm most likely flying into jacksonville on the tuesday, but might go to the space museum instead of straight to gainesville. isabel, if we do go straight to gainesville, we'll be hiring a car, so you can probably have a lift.

technically we are also flying into Orlando on the 25th but as we are getting in late/will still be on UK time we are pretty much just crashing out and heading over the next morning... if you don't go over on the Tuesday could possibly hook something up early ish the next day...

we haven't booked flights or a hotel yet, so not sure at all. i can't remember what time the flights we looked at get in, we go to amsterdam and then change at atlanta, so i wouldn't be surprised if we get in at about that time. we should be booking them at the weekend, so i'll have more information then.

i've just looked at a map, i didn't realise that the kennedy space centre is basically level with orlando, for some reason i thought it was up near jacksonville. we'll probably just go straight to gainesville now then.
and just spend wednesday eating all the food at boca, and drinking cheap sierra nevada.
are you staying at the hampton, kenny?

Floridian Transportation just sent me a confirmation email so I guess we're sorted.
Still going to ring them the day before though just to be sure!

Leonardo's, Reggae Shack, Boca Fiesta, Gyros, Karma Cream, Gator Dawgs, along with a million others i'm forgetting. have fun!
