question- so, if I manage to book a room at the Holiday Inn (keeping my fingers crossed) and I'm willing to share my room, does whoever I'm sharing the room with pay me once we are over there? or how do people usually work out that stuff? sorry if this is a dumb question but I just want to make sure of everything.

Basically one person books it and it's then up to them and whomever they're staying with to sort it out between them. Totally your call.

Yeah it's between you and the people you're sharing with. YOU get charged up front though, so the sooner everyone pays you the better since you're out all that money right away. Last year I put it on my credit card and asked everyone to send me their share via paypal within a month of me booking it so that I would have the money to pay my CC bill when it came in. A couple people could only afford to pay me in like $50 installments, and I think one didn't give me the rest of his share until we were actually down there, so it kind of bit me in the ass as I had to dip into savings a bit to pay my CC bill when it came in since I hadn't had everyone's full amount yet. But as long as they all pay their share in the end it eventually works out.

I'm staying at the Paramount Plaza, anyone know roughly how much you are looking at for a taxi to downtown? Hoping it isn't to much so I can head back if I buy to much merch throughout the day!

Not much, about $15 or so, and that was at night. Split between a few of you it's nothing.

my guess would be as well 15$.. some said it was like 10$ to the abvi.. anyway will stay again at the american best value inn.. with the value club its 55$ per night for 2 bed room.. the walk is doable and enver realla a problem to find a ride back from a house show

So, supposedly, the friends I'm splitting a room with are planning on staying at The Gainesville Lodge. I hear they were letting Festers stay there last year? I know that they didn't let anyone who was going to Fest stay there because of a roof-to-pool dive at Fest 5...anyone know what the actual deal is? Cause, seriously, that place has THE BEST location of any hotel in town!

I looked into this place...and for the price, it really is the best location in town.

Thanks for the info on the taxis, can imagine a walk downtown in a morning will be good to clear the head but anything after that will be a cab!

I dont know how to figure that into cab fare but its also right along a bus route. You have many options I guess.
