there is a retaining wall on the side of 34th street that is covered in graffiti and paint, it would be cool to make a little Fest section this year. wiki 34th st wall to find out more.

I love just leaving something behind everywhere i travel, im the guy etching his initials into a park bench somewhere (no trees or historic things, just boards n benches) i dont know if there is a graffiti store in particular, but im sure the local lowes or walmart has plenty of spray paint... plus you are likely to find some partially used cans at the wall other artists have left behind. i would love to see graffiti by German artists, we should Hijack a panel for festers and make it a temporary art gallery.

Vonni, I can't recommend enough that you don't make it happen - if you get caught by the cops you can basically kiss goodbye to going to Fest again because you won't get back into the States. Might be a better idea to get involved in the Fest 10 art show.

That's a fair point, I don't know - my assumption went the other way, that it isn't legal! Worth checking, then.

Yo Dudes, in the entire history of the wall there have been zero (0) citations and zero (0) arrests made for graffiting the 34th street wall... so if you are still afraid of GPD who have much more important things to do during Fest time than police the wall, which they never do period, then dont graffiti the wall. me however, im going to write 'Fest 10' in huuuge letters on a panel, and anyone else is welcome to join me... like i said, look it up on wiki or whatever...its a public art gallery for whoever wants to use it, foreign or otherwise. just dont draw a big cock or a vagina monster and you should be graavy baby...

From the 34th Street wall Wiki Page

"Although technically illegal, neither the Alachua County Sheriff's Office nor the Gainesville Police Department have charged anyone with criminal mischief for painting on the wall. In the past, there have been several unsuccessful attempts to prevent graffiti on the wall, including painting the wall white and the use of graffiti resistant coating, but in more recent years, the wall has been accepted as a Gainesville landmark and is a part of the University of Florida student culture. When the city last resurfaced 34th Street and widened the bicycle lanes, this originally required removing part of the wall. Instead, officials opted to narrow the road median instead, leaving the wall intact. In addition, waste containers are provided to allow for proper disposal of used paint supplies."

It's perfectly legal, just don't paint over the memorial that's on it. There's also a tunnel on 13th street that you can hit up. And I believe the office supply store (C.F.O.P.) across from Reggae Shack has nicer spray paints.

Painting on the 34th Street Wall has basically been decriminalized. You won't get in trouble for painting on it, but like they said above don't paint over the memorial section.

You can get quality spray paint from this store: CFOP 10 NW 6th Street ● Gainesville, Fl. 32601
which is in between the holiday inn and all the venues.

Take a picture of anything you do and send it to me! I'll post on The Fest facebook/twitter
