What's the weather usually like during Fest?

I'm guessing it's going to be warm. How hot are we talking?

i read in the do's and don'ts thread to bring summer clothes, so i think that pretty much tells you how the weather is

summer clothes, with the possibility of a light jacket at night will generally get you by.

one year it did drop to the 40s at night....

It's nearly July and we've had almost nothing but rain over here. I can't wait for Fest weather!

its warm - didn't expect so when I was coming the first year, but it is... 2008 first night at 3am, I thought a hoodie would be nice, but I also also standing an hour in front of the warehouse and waited for the "house" show (not) to happen.. I took a hoodie with me next day and regreted it - carrying it around all day/ night, for nothing... since then shorts/ shirt all night/ day every year

but as sharkie said a light jacket/ hoodie for the nighti might not a bad idea in case you go to a house show, or walk back like to the days inn/ abvi, rush lake..

your from europe? last year when i just stayed 10 days in florida - I just packed in shirts and shorts.. the hoodie / jacket / long trouser I was wearing to get over to the states was enough, also I knew I buy a trouser(levis = 35$, dickies even cheaper) and probably end up getting a hoodie at the Fest... depending what your plans are: pack in your sunoil and swimming trousers, ... the ocean around st pete/ tampa, was not what I would call really warm, but no problem once you were in the water... down in miami it was warm , at the florida keys it was warm like pee as we would call it in germany...

What you think of the weather really depends on whether you're a perpetually "hot" or "cold" person.
Also, just because Florida has the reputation of being a tropical paradise doesn't mean it can't be chilly.
You've got to remember, Fest is the last weekend before November. Some years it feels awesome and warm, others it's definitely jeans and jacket weather.

While you can probably get away with shorts during the day, it couldn't hurt to bring a hoodie at night. I remember standing around waiting for the 3 a.m. warehouse shows to start last year and everyone complaining about how cold they were.

And it's not like you have to pack tomorrow. You should be able to check the forecast in October to get an idea of what you should bring. Which should include comfortable shoes regardless of the weather. Fest doesn't involve much sitting.

For me being used to UK weather, I get away with shorts the entire weekend, t shirt all day, sometimes a hoodie in the evening. Occasionally you'll get mental rain (Friday night of Fest 5 anyone!?) but to be honest, you're gonna get wet in that no matter what you're wearing!

There was one real cold year a few years back though, not so much during Fest but just before it so I guess if you're unlucky you may want a jacket but you'll probably survive without.

This reminds me of the time I was on a walking tour in Berlin with a tour guide from Belfast. Noon rolls around and it was maybe the low 80s. You would have thought he was leading a caravan through the Sahara the way he went on about the heat.
The Australians and myself (I'm from Florida) got a kick out of it

We literally don't get decent weather over here. I mean we might get the odd nice few days over the June bank holiday weekend but that's pretty much it. Last week, on the day of the summer solstice, it rained non stop


although in fairness, the day Less Than Jake played in Dublin was a scorcher. Probably the hottest day of the year, I'd say it was a whopping 24 degrees

I live here, and RIGHT NOW the weather is ridiculously hot, and it rains almost every day. And it's so humid that your sweat never evaporates.

But during Fest time, who knows. Usually it's really hot during the day, sometimes not so bad. Sometimes it's cold at night, but sometimes it's still hot. Never cold enough to be more than a slight annoyance. I only remember it raining at Fest a couple of times, but it really sucked, all the venues filled up with fog coming off wet clothes.

So yeah, bring or buy a hoodie, just in case. Probably won't have to use it. I would never wear long pants to Fest, but I sweat like crazy.

Last year two weeks before the Fest i was in St. Augustine for a wedding, and the weather was fantastic, and the seawater was delightful, great surfing. during the Fest the weather was similar. Nice warm days with a heat peak during 2-4pm then pleasant slow cooling to a comfortable sleeping temperature for someone in the back of a car/van, and the day begins to warm as its time to get up and do more festin'. from my experience growing up in Gainesville October has been a month of nicely balanced weather with the occasional hurricane. my advice is for the first day wear board shorts for the day then at night you probably wouldn't regret wearing pants of some sort, unless they are nut huggers or corduroys. a light hoodie soaks up the smokey stale beer and punksweat smell and is good for carrying other goods and diseases, and keeps you fabulous and warm to boot.

as for the ladies, the less you wear at the pool party the better, its going to be hot and wet, we wouldn't want to repeat the incident we had last year where a poor girl succumbed to heat exhaustion from wearing a one piece and dancing to Larry and His Flask.

Nice to know objectifying women is alive and well at Fest!

Hm, I just interpreted that as a gentlemanly concern for the fairer sex.

Yeah, encouraging women to wear as little as possible, what a gentleman.
