I got an email that said the Commons Grounds story running in The Gainesville Sun's "Scene" and online at gainesville.com will be out Thursday.

Sooo..... Bro Bar with the occasional good show, if I'm reading between the lines correctly. Anyone care to start a pool on how long this incarnation will remain open? Will it last a while, or will it enter into a southwest-corner-of-University-and-Mainesque vortex?
Double Down Live is an awesomely cheezy name, btw.

I got the impression that it will be run similarly to CG, they are keeping the same bar manager, and Glory Days is doing most or all of the booking.
I'd rather see a variety of bookers, since I feel like Glory Days tends to overlook a lot of the kinds of bands I like, but my biggest fear is that they'll have some sort of overblown gambling themed decor. Big cards and dice everywhere. Which does sort of say "bro bar."

Same bar manager? That means there will still be Fest Punch, yeah? I don't really have a reason to go to DDL at all this year, but maybe if I get a break and the line isn't nuts (yeah, right) I'll sneak in for a cup or three...

I finally checked out Double Down the other night, it's almost identical to Common Grounds, and I recognized most of the staff. They serve Budweiser products now, which the beer nerd in me is not happy with, but I can't really fault them for it.
