I understand people not wanting crowds, so I appreciate why people want the Mystery Band schedule to be spread by word of mouth. But if I find out I missed Chuck Ragan, Jon Gaunt and Joe Ginsberg doing a set, I will sit down on the sidewalk and bawl. Just sayin'.

The Razor Cake showcase at Durty Nelly's on Sunday is specifically bands that have been associated with the magazine, so I'm guessing maybe things like Slow Death, Nothington, Cobra Skulls, etc. Just a guess.
Other bands I could see playing a second set, are bands more like Landmines, Touche Amore, Soviettes, Menzingers, Ninja Gun, Larry And His Flask, Monikers... bands that are sort of big, but who are more popular at Fest than usual, and won't be playing anywhere much smaller than their regularly schedule venues. This is good to hear!

I know they do but I have only seen them at Hevy Fest (2010 & 2011) always missed them in a venue for some reason. But I am just a big fan of them so ignore me LOL!

the Mystery Band concept just makes me think of the Off With Their Heads "secret" set last year. it was fun to guess where and when it was going to be, but people found out fast and the line for the Atlantic became even more ridiculous.
It would be much much better if they don't tell anyone. they have set times listed, all the venues are relatively close to each other, and listed bands are playing before or after them, so it's not going to be that hard for people to find out who it's going to end up being. Plus, with twitter, smart phones, texting, facebooking, etc. once one person finds out, others are going to find out pretty quickly.
Reward people for lucking out or risk missing another set to catch whatever band ends up playing the smaller venues during these time slots.
Also, i haven't checked, but are any of the 'mystery bands' playing at venues that are selling walk up tickets just for their venue on each day?

It would be awesome if it was Fugazi, but everyone knows its probably going to be Justin Bieber...

I reckon there's a good chance that one of the mystery bands will be Gaslight Anthem if they're not already on tour somewhere else at the time. Remember reading something, somewhere that they've asked to play since they played before but No Idea had to turn them down mainly due to how big they had become I think was the reason given.

Andy Ok. I feel like I need to step in on this one. "No Idea" doesn't choose who plays. No Idea Records / The Fest = 2 different things. We would never turn anyone down for "how big they had become". Some bands' booking agents want more money for the band to play then we can afford. A lot of the times, the band members themselves have little to do with these negotiations. If a band wants too much money then we just can't afford to have them. Gaslight Anthem will not be playing the Fest 10.

Mystery Bands < Shook Ones, La Dispute, Fake Problems, etc...
Unless these mystery bands include Crime in Stereo, Strike Anywhere, Lawrence Arms, and all the other bands I was hoping would play when I bought my ticket for Fest 10 mad early...I could give a fuck

So here's my theory...
From looking over the schedule there are a few bands that only have 30 minutes sets while their peers playing the same venue have 40 minute sets. In some cases the disparity is due to the bands playing later in the evening are larger draws, but in other cases it would seem that the band playing the 30 minute set would be the bigger draw. So my theory would be that those bands with an inexplicably shorter set, are in fact the mystery bands. For instance:
Friday Night Cobra Skulls Copyrights Banner Pilot
Saturday Night Off with their Heads Dead to Me
