some friends of mine just posted a show at the backbooth in orlando with YOUTH BRIGADE on saturday oct27th...

i'm ALL ABOUT bands playing around before and after Fest...
i think it's awesome to have the chance to see some bands that you love a few times over the weekend...

but what gives when you KNOW that tony and the boys had to pay good $$$ to get these boys in town, only to have them leave halfway through the Fest and not even hang out/party over the weekend???

i think it's CRAP.

Bands who show up for one night, play, then fuck off are bullshit.

i'll cut slack on that statement for bands like Smoke or Fire and Avail who are coming in the middle of a tour and could easily just skip Florida. But Lawrence Arms does it right of having a tour and having a 3 day stop for the Fest.

Youth Brigade is also playing in Ft Lauderdale on the 28th, whats the point of leaving Gainesville to go play other shows around Florida when almost everyone who would see them anyways is in Gainesville.

wow, so youth brigade is just coming in for friday night, and then they're OFF to greener pastures!?!

it really makes me think about the reason that these bands are re-forming...

and it sure as hell aint' for the kids...

Anyone I know that would go see those shows is hanging in G'ville for the whole weekend. I'm sure it'd be a great show, but I know I won't be there. I'll be Festing it up.



I know that Dan Yemin said he felt foolish for piling a bunch of shows around their first Fest appearance in 05. He stayed for the whole weekend last year to make up for it.



also another great point. An old friend of mine...older than me as well...told me about how Youth Brigade played his livingroom back in 87...that's the band I want to see. Maybe they still are and are just un-informed about the validity of The Fest. The poster alone gives me a boner though, so I don't know who could miss that.

I think that's probably it, bands don't know how awesome Fest is. I heard they were trying to get D4 for a while before they came for Fest four, and on the spot they said they'd never NOT play Fest ever again, i suppose unless you come see it for yourself nobody can explain to you how awesome it is - which is why i'm so surprised Smoke Or Fire are doing a grab and dash, i guess nobody got them properly shitfaced afterwards last time (that said, it could be they have bad memories of last year's show seeing as as soon as they walked off stage, 3/4 of the band threw up from the heat for a good ten-fifteen minutes).
