Well, I am. You might get a little culture shock going on when crazy old dudes don't randomly shout at you on the street, but don't worry about it, you'll get used to it.
What on earth do Florida's crazy old dudes do to pass the time of day?

also, any good places for cuban food? the place next to durty nelly's is decent though. I haven't personally tried sun tea, but I have heard a lot of bad things about it...mostly concerning mold? mold?! i've never heard about that. basically you just let the sun cook the tea instead of boiling water and putting tea bags into it. it's cheap and good. Yeah... http://teainmycup.blogspot.com/2007/08/iced-tea.htmlThat isn't the link that I originally looked at & that link says a lot more, who knows. I was going to do the whole "raw" thing for a little while a year ago & came across Sun Tea, but I never went through with that. interesting article. i like how she mentioned something about studies conducted at the University of Miami. however, i have to note, that she found mold growing on top of tea that had been sitting out, open to the air and anything in the environment for two days. you can leave a glass of water out and it'll taste funny overnight. when i 'cook' sun tea i leave it out in a closed milk jug for a few hours and let it have that hot florida sun shine down on it, then i put it in the fridge, sealed, for easy access whenever i feel like having tea. add some sugar, maybe some key lime or lemon juice and you're set.
This is true, I can't find the link about the mold article though.
If I do find it, I'll post the link.
Awesome, that's something I need to try to make : )

pullin' in the reigns...
allright folks, this topic is about BOILED PEANUTS and how awesome it is that god took time off from his crappy day of rest to come down to dixie and teach his true southern children how to make boiled peanuts.
and sun tea, chewie.
and then he beat his wife.
if you don't believe me it's all in the southern baptist bible in St. Augustine 4:23

are boiled peanuts vegan? what exactly are they boiled in? this sounds kinda gross... do you eat them when theyre still wet? im so perplexed by this. I have had california sun tea, and yeah it will probably grow mold if you leave it outside for a few days, it will probably grow its own habitat. a couple hours is just right, and put it up high in a sealed container so the ants cant get on it... i put it on top of the fuse box.
I personally cannot wait for sweet tea, i am going to drink it freaking everywhere. i'm gonna have the craziest sugar high you have ever seen. and then i am going to give everyone hugs, and whisper beautiful poetry in your ears. im totally stoked.

they're just boiled in water w/ salt and spices... so they SHOULD be vegan...
then they sit in the flavored water in a crock pot at a convenience store waiting for someone to grab a styrofoam cup and ladle 'em out!
the right way to eat them(in my opinion), is to put one, shell and all, on your mouth and suck in all the saltyness! then crack the shell w/ your teeth, chew up the nut, and spit out the shell!
mmm... mmmm.... mm....

Fried pickles are the best of the southern delicacies. Boiled peanuts are a close second, followed by country fried steak.
