THE Fest 9 does not condone, support, book, encourage, or want anything to do with shows that we do not officially organize during Fest 9 weekend or the days surrounding.

In case you didn't read this on the main page, apparently the Gainesville PD is checking out this part of the forum to keep tabs on house shows and noise complaints/riots/etc. We certainly don't want another 8th and 8th (was it 8th and 8th?) riot/fiasco. Just be warned that the police are onto these conversations.

I would just like to announce that I personally hope an outstanding GPD officer allows me to sit on his/her face and sucks a fart out of my ass.

After last years problem I'm not surprised they're keeping an eye on this. I just hope the minority of trouble makers behave themselves or don't show up at all this year and don't spoil it for everyone in the future.

after last year I wouldn't be surprised if they right away turn up with a bunch of wagons and not just one anymore and try to avoid every discussion when there is a group of people around and rather try to turn down every house show right away

after the incident last year its even hard to argument about it, also just checking their history on last years fests they should realize that the regular festers are not the typical punks and troublemaker.. wouldn't even be surprised if the weekend is more peaceful tahn other weekends where the town is just full with regular people

but damn I hope there will be some shows again, it wouldn't be the Fest without... but as said above, adresses shouldn't be posted here, also except for a show or two never have been anyway..

Tony had a meeting with someone from GPD after last years incident. They understand that it was an isolated incident and not representational of Fest attendees in general. There will probably be a police presence in the downtown area after shows let out each night... but it's like that every night in Gainesville. We really don't expect any escalated harassment from GPD as a result of last years incident.

it also depends on what neighborhood the house shows are in. I wouldn't try to pull off anything in Duckpond or like Haile Plantation.

You are so wrong. Some of us older No Idea folks rent out a day spa in Haile every year for a private house show. Last year Leonard Cohen and Greg Sage both did minimalist sets. It was divine. We had some wine and brie and told stories of when music was not much a big commercial for stuff that all sounds the same. Up the punx.

well, damn I would have liked to go, but my favorite Leonard Cohen album is actually "Death Of A Ladies' Man" and I doubt he played anything off of that.

DISCLAIMER: If I sound like a colossal, whining, Debbie Downer, no-fun-having baby, I don't care.

People need to watch it with these house shows.

I'm from Daytona, but I live in the Deep South now and I need The Fest to survive. It's what recharges my punk rock batteries and helps me face the other 362 days a year I spend surrounded by people who think everything I enjoy is awful.

BCR used to be a huge deal in Daytona, but now it has moved because people couldn't handle themselves and the city refused to put up with it anymore.
I don't want to imagine a world where a small number of knuckleheads were responsible for doing away with Punk Rock Christmas.

I will step down from my soap box now.
