It's a pretty easy drive. You can also get the greyhound bus for pretty cheap which we did a couple of years ago, was an adventure. I sat by a dude that had $5000 in his sock and took delight in showing me and telling me all sorts of tales.

Much easier to get the Runways shuttle bus that goes straight to and from Orlando airport to downtown Gainesville. Small buses, fully aircon, free wifi and no nut jobs saving with the bank of sock! Here's the website: https://www.rnwy.com/

I sat by a dude that had $5000 in his sock and took delight in showing me and telling me all sorts of tales. Due to my cock-arsed booking, I booked the Greyhound for the wrong day, meaning I couldn't get on the same bus as two of my peoples, so had to wait 6 hours in the sun for the next one. Only available seat was in the middle of this 10-strong latino family who didn't seem to understand any English. No hablo espanol. Awesome! My friend had to sit next to someone who, thinking about it, was actually Hightower from Police Academy The guys on the other bus were sitting next to some newly released convicts off back to the Midwest by Greyhound. This year? Flying to Gainesville via Atlanta.

My boyfriend and I are flying, too. I've been having a minor panic-attack over the busride.

Haha. I suppose it depends on your perspective. I was working from the prevailing one which seemed to be about how threatened one felt!

Hopefully, you'll get the crazy ex-IDF guy, and get a chance to start up a conversation with him.

If you walk north/uphill on the road where the bus drops you off, then you'll hit the edge of campus and be on University Avenue. If you then hang a right and head east on University Ave, you'll see the Holiday Inn on the northeast corner of the first major intersection, University Avenue and 13th street.

Definitely get the runways coach. I got in next to ex-convicts both times on the greyhound. Both nice-for-a-dodgy-bloke type dudes, but you never know. Runways to downtown ends up about two blocks from common grounds, and takes less time than greyhound (that said, it was five years ago i got the greyhound). And the greyhound station in orlando is sketchy and a pain in the arse to get to. If you're flying into orlando, hands down, get the runways coach.
