If your budget's tight you should check out the various places on SW13th Street. Comfort Inn, Days Inn, even the Paramount Plaza can be OK priced (and it's nice too!). Bit of a walk to the action but do-able in 25-30 mins or so.

Isn't the Hampton on 1st Avenue closer to more of the venues than the Holiday Inn. That's how it seemed last year as I stumbled around all over half crazy.

we found the paramount to offer cheaper rates if you book online, separately from the Fest options. Just go to their website and click "best rate guaranteed", punch in your dates, and check the rate. i am pretty sure last year when we stayed there, our rate was something like $70/night versus $100/night if you booked it through the Fest site.

There's two Hampton Inns in GNV, one's miles away and there's the new one that opened just in time for last year bang in the centre of downtown, even better placed than the Holiday Inn.
