Gainesville locals, is this true? This hotel was serviceable and cheap for a couple of days.

It's still on their website but it seems no matter what dates you put in, it won't let you book. It was a bit of a dump but did the job and was cheap. It would be a shame if it's no longer there.

Well my mates used to swear by the Comfort Inn just down the road from the Days Inn. I think it may now be a Quality Inn though but it could be worth checking out. There's also an Americas Best Value Inn right across the street from the Day Inn that's meant to be cheap and cheerful!

The rooms are good and you get to make a mess of the waffle maker every morning, and the staff leave you alone which is nice too. I was happy with it anyway. Hampton Inn this year though for me 'cuz the airfare from Australia was a tonne it's the least of our expenses haha

That parking garage next to market street pub was like the best hidden gem of the weekend that I found. Completely free and in the middle of everything.

Yeah, if you can find it reasonably priced the Comfort Inn is the business.

I think I was supposed to pay on the friday, but they didn't make me pay(or that was the only day I had to pay the 5 bucks...I don't remember) And since everyone is recommending the Comfort Inn in this thread, I'll have to take a closer look.

I drove by today, it looked pretty abandoned... no cars in the parking lot, and it looked a little more run down than usual.

Honestly, I'm not really surprised if that's the case. Everyone I came down with last year and myself stayed there (if this is the one across the road from Steak 'N Shake and America's Best Value Inn). Maybe it was just last year but it seemed pretty crappy. I usually have good experiences with Days Inn's as a chain but the service was eh (we asked them to do some stuff for us like 5 times and they didn't), and there were roaches invading the room I was in.

I really didn't have a problem with my room, but it does seem as if a lot of reviews were pretty terrible. I guess when I'm only in a room to sleep it's not that big of a deal to me. And I guess for 50 bucks a night you're getting what you pay for...but yeah, I wouldn't want my room invaded by roaches.

Oh yeah totally, I don't give a shit normally either... but literally the second we checked in and walked inside, someone found a roach in the bathroom. And then there was one on my pillow that night while I was trying to sleep. I also found a dead one directly outside of our room on Monday morning while we were checking out. They didn't clean the room or make the beds the 2nd morning though, and I did ask them five times for a roll-away bed for someone before they finally gave it to us. Again, really, its just a place to sleep but roaches are just plain irritating. I can chalk them not responding to the request for the cot up to them just being super busy all weekend though.
