Pretty sad it's gone, it was great, and it sounded like it was a cool place outwith its Fest functions, too.
You're kidding re: no queues, though!

The Kickstand as an organization will still be around, but there wasn't enough community support to keep paying the rent.

defintily had lines there for the bigger bands and the ones I saw there had horrible sound..
I definitly liked what they were overall doing, also BYOB and that you could hang around outside between the bands was nice, but won't really miss it due to the bad sound

If I remember correctly, there was a huge line at the Kickstand, the sound wasn't that great and the entire area was fenced in so....pretty much the exact opposite of what you said.

Well 8 Seconds is supposed to be about the same size (if not bigger) than common grounds. You can take a look at it on google maps. Just look for durty nellys and look across the street.

I didn't mind the Kickstand, but having a stage level with the ground wasn't great if you were far away. And the walk past that one corner with all the hookers and shit wasn't the most pleasant aspect of Fest.

it isn't a matter of opinion, it is fact that the kick stand was the best Fest venue last year

common grounds actually only fits about 300 people, including the porch. hence all the problems getting in during the Fest
but yea, having 8 seconds (apparently 1000 cap) is going to be a nice add on

damn, it seemed bigger than that. So a 1000 capacity is going to be awesome. How much does the venue hold?

Kickstand was a cool little place and it really sucks for the organization to have lost their space.
Not to broken up about it from a Fest standpoint though. It was small and hot and way out of the way.
