Pretty good shows, lot's of good resurants, record stores, comic shops, etc. A very active Roller Derby league (like 4 teams in one city), great dog park, lot's of art shows and performance art, good local free newspapers, and great beer selection. wow somehow I missed all of that, i was there for a couple days when I was filming some gator football stuff and the only cool thing I saw was an underground publix oh and a like 70 year old sports writer getting a lap-dance from two black strippers while Prince's "Purple Rain" played over the system. that was a weird night

little 5 points in Atlanta is actually really neat. There's a really good vegan place but i can't remember the name, some independent retail places that have fun clothes, and The Majestic, which is a lot like The Top here. Plus 309474 coffee places that are really good. Jeremy we have to go explore before the Sunny Day show!

I ate really damn good vegan nearly every meal, because you can easily there. Lots of coffee and cupcakes too. My highlight of the trip besides the Fest though was a Jim Henson Muppet exhibit at the Center for Puppetry Arts Museum. Here i am with with skekUng the Garthim Master of the Skeksis!

PS - I'll work on getting you a list of places to eat vegan there from my ATL friends, they're vegan. Edit: I ate at this place Soul Vegetarian which doesn't look like much but is excellent. http://www.happycow.net/reviews.php?id=1889http://soulveg.net/Soul Vegetarian Restaurant 879 Ralph David Abernathy SW Atlanta, GA 30310-1800 (404) 752-5194 Actually here is a veg listing for ATL, no need to ask my friends: http://www.happycow.net/north_america/usa/georgia/atlanta/

I can't believe I have never been there, especially considering my friend in ATL that I always visit works for Adult Swim, and that sort of thing is right up her alley.

It has great thrift stores too - including one that has a wall of used western boots the length of the store, all the way to the 25' ceiling. Getting coffee and doing some people-watching, is pretty entertaining too, IMO. You also must go here on your way home: http://www.dekalbfarmersmarket.com/ Insane Farmers Mkt.

Gainesville was voted 5th meanest city by the National Coalition for the Homeless and UF was voted #2 party school this year (they slipped from #1 last year).

I'm in the process of looking into grad schools right now, and Gville is on the list of schools (its my safety school). I'm gonna come into town a day before the Fest to meet up with one of the history professors to talk about grad school there. It just seems like a good place for me to go, I'm getting pretty fucking sick of the midwest (even though chicago is amazing). If i end up there, i'll probably be there for the next 4-6 years. which seems like a good amount of time to spend in one place.

He told me and my exbf that we were going to have twins...then asked for 50 cents. I once asked a bum to do a bike trick for 25 cents. He obliged. A bum once asked for money for beer, because "it was cold as fuck and if he was going to sleep outside he was going to have to be drunk." I bought honest bum a 6pack. Come to think of it, I have hundreds of bum stories.

Every single time i go to a show in chicago, i run into the exact same bum. it doesnt matter what part of the city it is, i always see him, and he always asks me for money to do some "Jack Daniels research". that cracks me up everytime, so i always give him some money. gotta love funny/honest bums.

Is getting a house in Gainesville easier to rent than a Apartment? I'm in the process of transferring my job anywhere than my current location and I figure Gainesville would be a great place to go, since i've been there quite alot and know like 2 people there lol. My only problem is i dont know if I could afford renting a House compared to a 1 BR/1 BA apartment. Is it easy to get trustworthy roommates? I doubt it really.

You can find some pretty cheap places downtown. I don't know what your price range is, but my friends just found a 2/1 in a duplex for less than $600 a month right on 8th ave.
Its hard to even find a 1/1 for that cheap in an apartment complex.
