So I am driving up and have got my hotel and what not, but I was curious as to how the parking situation is in Gainesville? Will I have difficulty finding places to park? I don't mind having to do some walking, but I don't want to be stuck walking further then I would have if I hadn't driven.
Red Roof Inn ftw

i was going to ask the same thing...my friend's dad recently moved from just outside the bronx to 20 minutes outside of gainesville, so we (along with a sizeable buffalo crew) will be staying there and driving into the city...thanks for the info.

Can someone explain what roam towing is? and how do you know whether or not you're in a roam towing area?

roam towing is when the tow truck roams around and tows cars that aren't supposed to be parked where they're parked. there are signs, and sometimes it's hard to tell if it's roam or not.
my solution: just park in the fucking parking garage.

there's two, but the one closest to the action is right next to common grounds and five star. you'll see it. right across from market st, and next to volta. you can't miss it.
great location.
i parked there once last year and it was even free!
there's another one a little farther down, by dragonfly, or mark's prime, right next to the hampton inn. but it's a little bit further away (couple blocks).

Thurs/Friday they have an hourly charge until 6pm, then it's a flat rate $5 from 6-2am. It is free from 2 am Saturday until 6pm, then $5 from 6-2, then free again all day/evening Sunday. If you park there before 5pm on Saturday and then don't take your car out until Sunday, it's free. Convoluted? Sure! It's run by the city of Gainesville.
