Who knows, maybe afterwards I'll come back on and admit defeat, that it was a total waste of cash, but I gotta tell you, right now I'm pretty excited about not seeing SW13th, and basically rolling out of bed into Mother's. We'll see! I stayed at Rush Lake last year and totally destroyed my feet with all the walking. Between that and the costs of cab rides, the convenience of the Holiday Inn is winning out over the extra cash it costs. Rush Lake itself wasn't bad at all. For the price, i was expecting a LOT worse. I couldn't afford all four nights at the HI, so I'm staying one at Rush lake. If it were nearer to all the action, I'd stay there again the whole time.

stayed at the holiday inn for Fest 6 and it was fun as shit. the rooms were small and overpriced and the ceiling in the shower leaked, but it was worth it that year. i'm sure there was a lot of shit broken by festers that year, but you know holiday inn has insurance on that shit anyway. so no big deal, right?!!!
i used to stay there even on non Fest weekends, but not anymore!!! stayed there again for Fest 7 and it sucked! actually, i didn't even get to "stay" cause one of the security people told us we weren't allowed to roam around the hotel with beers looking for people to party with and so one of the people staying in my room told him something like, "you can't do anything! you're not even a real cop!" apparently, if you hurt a security guard's feelings, they're allowed to kick you out. my friend even offered to leave the hotel since he was the only one causing trouble, but holiday inn decided to kick us all out at like 3am. they didn't even give us a warning or anything. this was friday night of Fest weekend. holiday inn refused to give me my money back. i paid like almost $500 just for the room and didn't even get to sleep in it. whatever, that's like a day and a half's worth of work for me. haha it just sucked having to look for a place to stay at 3am while drunk as fuck.
ended up at rush lake (recommended by another fester) and it was okay... cheap rate, bottle openers in the bathroom, BIG rooms, balcony overlooking a beautiful lake (jk, more like a swamp), steak n shake next door (CHEESE FRIES!!!), friendly employees, etc. the only thing is it is a long walk from the venues.
also, the paul blarts last year didn't even have guns. just because they were fat guys with maglites and walkie-talkies, they thought they were the shit! if i really need protection, i can just call 911 myself, okay? holiday inn security are the biggest boner killers ever.
ANYWAY...... there's a new hampton inn and suites opening in september on SE 1st ave. it's closer to venues (i think it's 3 or 4 blocks from common grounds) and you get free breakfast. and they probably won't have a bunch of dumb security guards walking around telling you what to do.
holiday inn = party posers!!! and that's the god damn truth.

I remember being outside the HI at about that time on the Friday when a bunch of fairly well behaved but upset young people were getting thrown out for what seemed to be no real reason. That incident has played on my mind since...I'm old and nasty enough to not let them get away with that shit but if it was you guys I met then you seemed like you were basically being bullied out of there! Did you ever get any money back?

Either way I'm stoked to drink myself stupid in this place. You get 4 wristbands per room(whether it's 2 double beds or 1 king bed). Is this true for the Paramount as well?
