I'm not 100% but I think most of the bands on my label are doing other touring, I'm broke, and I haven't seen any band announcements yet. I think you guys are going to have to make fun of yourselves and heckle the mountain goats...I mean Andrew Jackson Jihad on your own this year.

Not knowing what is going on (especially when I could have gotten a round trip ticket for under $200 if I could have done it this week) might change me mind.

I thought things were going to be updated Festwise by June 1st. Looking more like August 1st now according to hearsay anyway based on info from some confirmed bands. As for the economy...I feel your pain. Been unemployed 8 long months now and nobody wants to pay/hire for my photography. Hope everything is awesome with the label/store otherwise.

Are regular Fest goers really swayed by what bands are playing? I assume that if you've been before, it shouldn't matter who is playing, cause you know you'll have fun. Music is secondary.
Also, stuff last year wasn't announced until late August/early September... by this time we were all wondering what was going on too. I understand you're from across the country but that aside, everything shouldn't really sway your decision to come.

Music is secondary. If the Fest was just a big hang out where they just played records over a speaker system and everyone partied for 3 days I would still go

if no music were played and the exact same group of people would show up....I would still go.
If there ever was a real feeling of a "religious experience", Fest 7 definitely was it for me. I love every single one of you assholes and look forward to this year again.
BTW...i'm drunk again. Disregard any idiocy. Unemployment's fun.

Yeah, I mean, if lack of funds or anything problematic is really the issue then I totally understand not going.
But I guess if you have been to the Fest before I really just think the bands playing or the fact that tickets/info hasn't gone up yet shouldn't be the only thing preventing you or influence your decision in any way. I am completely of the mindset that once you actually get to the Fest it becomes less about just the music and more about the experience as a whole.
Plus, with well over 200 bands every year, and if you generally like a lot of who they usually get, I mean it should be a guarantee that you'll find a chunk of bands to watch regardless of who plays. I already like the list of Possibly Confirmed Bands and I know it's just going to get bigger and more awesome from there.
I already got my hotel and flights booked! Granted, I'm also sponsoring this year, but still.

no doubt in my mind whether i'm gonna go, now tampa pre-fest i dunno. from last year yeah it's definitely just as much about sweet deals at the ridiculously crowded saturday no idea booth and all those flea markets, sprinting from the kickstand to 1982 to make sure i catch a.n.s.' full set, the community feel too. i probably never met any of you messageboard guys last year but i felt a different kinda vibe from the non-festing local population from friday-sunday, and while that obviously had some to do with halloween and the florida-georgia game it just felt comfortable. plus the community spirit with the whole variety blah blah blah thing. being in the midwest (and i'm guessing all over to different levels) it's pretty much one particular "scene" becomes oversaturated. kansas city has no real venues now, and when it did it was negative approach worship or high school mosh types. lawrence (ku main campus) is late 20s curmudgeons who think coalesce was the end-all be-all of music. okc is very infoshop oriented and lots of collectivist anarchist themed hardcore. nothing wrong with any of that of course but it's nice to meet all sorts of people with all sorts of tastes. cornball i know, but the Fest is much a get-together of lots of people with different ideas, different tastes as a music festival in my mind. lots of good talks about anything and everything, lots of great people with open minds. gives a feeling like you belong even if you're from halfway across the world.
5:30am cold medicine post, forgive me if this is way off-topic. i'm guessing i'll read this a day from now and be embarrassed but this is the best i can do right now to complement what's already been said. and yeah money sux we need more of it

Of course I'd go regardless. Weekends are for friends, music & beer. I wouldn't know what else to do. Go to the Uf/GA game...I THINK NOT.
